Hmm? Hmm? Artificial Aspies? Will this create an environment where normal behavior is more Aspie-friendly? Probably not, but an interesting thought...

I doubt it will be completely aspie-friendly, but it is in some way a step in that direction, and the best part is, we have a tendency to have technology-oriented jobs because we do so well with logic, so the farther society goes in that direction, the more power we will have (statistically speaking)

Wow, very interesting read-thanks for posting.

It can only give hope-I wasn't raised in it to say, so I doubt I'll "fit in" still, lol, but I have noticed a neighbor of mine, a little older than me, is CONSTANTLY texting people. She will interrupt you to do so, tell you to hold a thought, and text then let you continue. It's kind of funny... because it's kind of self-destructive in being social, but even doing this to one another is socially acceptable, because so many people are doing it.

there is no doubt that the world is becoming more autistic as time goes by.
there are countless little things like the one u just quoted that point to the inevitability of the society becoming more aspie like
for instance
the automation of lots of previously maned positions is saving us and the rest of the world lot of eye contact and embarrassing meaningless human contact
the network is rapidly changes fundamental perceptions of what is considered proper and authentic communication
the information technology under mined the common sense of space and time and brought it much closer to the way we sense such fundamentals
the emergence of AS communities and the public awareness to autism of recent years is no coincidence as it linked very closely to technological and sociological development that enabled an infrastructure that can carry our collective voice and awareness
it's the era of the geeks now
we are next :D

I doubt it. It is true that youngsters are adapting to certain technologies of communication, but that does not mean their underlying psychology is altered in any essential way. We live in a world of computer and cell phones. Kids simply adapt to what is there. It is not big deal. I have six year old grandchildren who have been using lap top computers since they were three. They text and they twitter.

Children are rather intelligent (at least before their parents turn them into dull wits) and they can and do adapt to whatever technology is at hand. Kids, nowadays, can do crayons and keyboards with equal ease.

Well, the way i see it, a kid (say 15 yrs old and younger) dont need cell phones. Hell, i didnt get one until i was 21 (course Im an aspie anyway and i hate making phone calls and the only texts I send are on computer anyway). So, if some kid is sending 2000 texts, its likely to a friend they cant see, but it doesnt mean they arent interacting with the ones they can. If anything, it should be considered rude to send a text while you're with a friend or group. You have a "mailbox" for a reason. No harm in ignoring the message and getting it later. Besides, if it was urgent, they should call you anyway rather than text (In all honesty, it takes more effort to text rather than talk). Im gonna stop there because it will wind up on a rant about irresponsible parents.

it's not that simple
we create tools and then the tools changes us
adaptation is the way we evolve

I would guess NTs pick up the social skills we miss, naturally, before they are even able to understand texting.

Even then, they have the brain connectivity to understand and learn these things dynamically. It may be similar to a bad upbringing, but not near the same issue.

Unless texting at an early age causes developmental delays in other brain departments due to lack of mental stimulation.
