A lot of us aspies tend to be anti-social/reclusive people due to us not being able to communicate with other people with ease.

In the past few years, I've ranged from being hardly reclusive, to semi-reclusive to extremely reclusive.

I've created this poll out of curiosity to see how severe of recluses you folks here are.

I range from moderate to severe. I don't leave the house much unless it for necessary stuff like Dr appointments and groceries, but not much else. I go out in my yard and mess with my garden sometimes, or tinker with the car(wrench monkey), but, for the most part, company comes to see me. Usually, there is only one person at a time, who visit, somtimes two. Never more than that, because it makes me uncomfortable(plus, I don't have massive amounts of close friends  ).

That's pretty reclusive, i would say. Yes? :)

I have terrible anxiety going out anyplace, malls or crowds of people frighten me, I prefer
to interact though second life, it seems to be my only form of social interaction these days.

I couldn't be a total hermit. I like having a few friends.

My idea of a party is no more than six or eight people I know and like.

I would NEVER go to a sporting event where many thousand people cram into a stadium.

I don't do lines. If there are too many people in line at the supermarket or theater then I will just walk away.

I figured that most people here would be highly reclusive.

I believe I am the most reclusive person on this forum. Not sure its possible to be much more reclusive than me.

I mostly tell people I am agoraphobic when they want to know whats wrong with me but it may not be completely accurate but everyone understands what it means so I dont have to explain too much. Back at school recluse was an insult so I always avoided the word but it is what i am. :)

I only go out to to work and get groceries. Sometimes, about once or twice a month I go to the mall, but I don't interact that much
unless I am purchasing something. I would say that makes somewhere between moderate and very reclusive.

I was very reclusive for years, then one day I suddenly I realized that I was fearless. Then I was not reclusive so much; just I don't enjoy most people, it isn't that I'm socially uncomfortable.

I am a total hermit but I am not anti-social, have no social anxiety whatsoever, and can communicate easily. I live in a nature preserve and go and buy groceries about once a week. It is beautiful where I am and the silence (and sounds of nature) is sublime. I have been living this way for six years, but am no longer sure that it is a good idea in the long run.

You need to modify your poll to:

1. I’m as reclusive as a common cold virus.
2. Just the usual friends.
3. One friend only.
4. Only my family members are my friends.
5. Friends? What friends?
6. I can’t even remember the last time I saw a real person.

I'm not reclusive at all. I'm hardly ever home.

I am not as reclusive as I would like to be. I have a small handfull of friends who i interract with and a few tolerable acquaintances...all of whom are at least somewhat non-NT..and then I help run a venue..so interacting with others is inevitable...There are lots of people who I am vaguely familiar with, and of course I have to acknowledge them....I really don't regard it as being "Out in public"..which is generally somewhat traumatic for me...

Well, I hardly go anywhere except for work and errands. However, work and errands keep me out of the house more often than not. So I voted "moderately reclusive." I interact with people on a daily basis, despite my crippling anxiety. In my heart, I'd prefer to pull a Thoreau and go live in the woods. But I have a child to take care of, bills to pay, etc. I still have to live the householder life for awhile.

Perhaps when I'm older I can be a full-time renunciate.

I have to be. If I am set free in the urban jungle, I will go on a killing rampage and destroy everything.

The only social interaction I have is occasional posts on forums like this.
