I am in my left thumb, which I can bend back at the bottom most knuckle. It seems to go back alot further than anybody else I've seen who has a double jointed thumb.

Here's a picture I just took...

Also, I don't know if this counts or not but I can dislocate and relocate both of my sholders painlessy and without using my hands to force them in or out.

No such thing as being "double-joined".

I'm hypermobile. As far as I'm aware, there is no such thing as 'double jointed' - it's just an informal and incorrect term for hypermobile.

Yup. I am under the impression that other people find it especially weird when I put my feet behind my back.

My toes and fingertips are more flexible than average....but that's about it..
What does this have to do with general autism discussion?

I can bend both thumbs back in a worrisome way. I showed my mom once and she thought my thumb was broken and I needed to go to the hospital.

I can do things with my fingers that I had always thought were considered to be "double jointed" (such as invert the joints of my fingertips at will). I had thought that this was hereditary, though? I am in no way flexible in any other regard.

Well I wasn't sure which section it should be posted in, so I read the short description for it (Talk about anything that has at least something to do with Autism, Asperger's, ADHD, and life) and I thought it might be fine if I emphasize life. It might be better off in another section though...

I think I know what you and fiddlerpianist mean with the tips of the fingers, by the way. I can kinda flex mine backwards, but I can't really bend them back too far. Maybe about 45 degrees upwards at best.

@ Ana

Yeah, it always freaked my teachers out whenever they saw me bending my thumb back as well
And then they kept asking what happened, if I was okay, or if I needed to go to the nurses office

Yes, I thought so, too. I am not hypermobile, by the way.

Well, supposedly, hypermobility is quite common in people on the autistic spectrum. There was another thread the other day about hypermobility, so it's a topic that does crop up from time to time.

I'm double-jointed.

I can bend my fingers very far back, to my wrist with my index and middle finger. Not the thumb though, that one's normal.

Don't know about my toes.

Yeah, I heard that hypermobility was one of the signs to look for with people on the autistic spectrum. Something to do with development.

Several of my joints are double-jointed (more so on my left side, for some reason), especially my thumb (meaning I am reigning champion at thumb wars!). It tends to gross me out so I don't know how hypermobile I am.

Yep. Mostly in my knees, elbows, and wrists. Probably a bit in my shoulders and hips too, but don't know for sure.

Yep. I can bend the first segment of my thumb backwards so it's lying horizontal/90 degrees from the rest of my thumb.
