Does anyone have a probem with staring at people? I tend to stare at a lot of people, but I am not doing it on purpose.
Is this something common with having AS?? I tend to stare at people automatically, without knowing it. Thanks, Parrotnut.

I tend to do that a lot, but I am just now learning about my AS and I do not know whether that might be part of it. Sometimes consciously and sometimes not, I am usually "studying" someone when I stare ... kind of like trying to read through the cover of a book to see what is on the inside (either out of some kind of curiosity or because I do not trust what I seem to be seeing on the cover) ... and it never crosses my mind until later that I am actually not invisible and they might see, notice or know I am staring.

I began looking for someone like me 50-some years ago when I was five, and now the prospects around here are beginning to look pretty good ... :)

I stare at girls all the time. It's just something I need to do and I always do it in a sneaky way where they don't see me do it. Staring at girls is like looking at the sun, if you look too long it's risky. You get a sense of it and then you look away. That is basically what I do.

That's kinda creepy maybe you should ask a shrink about that, that can't be normal.
I guess maybe I'll stare at someone if i zone out looking in a particular direction, and a person happens to be in my field of vision, but chances are I will not even know they are there.

Actually its pretty normal as long as your doing it in short bursts and it depends on where your facing and where their facing, I do it depending on the circumstances, I don't know if you meant it to be sarcastic, because some people might say that sarcasticly thinking every guy does it. Or maybe you saw him as overdoing it at every chance he can get, yeah that might be a little creepy.

I personally don't stare at anyone unless I'm talking to them (and sometimes not even then) or by accident, or some good eye candy (a nice looking girl) is around to look at, then I sneak a short look every now and then. I get a bit uncomfortable if I happen to glance at anyone and then they catch my eyes, I sort of look away as soon as I can and make it look natural. Unless that person glances at me first and she's attractive, then I'll glance back for a moment or so or look away if she glances away.

Never been accused of staring in my life, well only once, and it was by a girl who I wasn't even admiring, I just happened to look that way by chance.

I probably, no I definitely could have phrased that better, but oh well. I mean yea guys stare at girls, we see something we like, our eyes follow. I mean that's perfectly normal, but if you are actually staring for long periods of time, focusing on them and such, that's a little odd.

[raises hand] I DO!! !! !! I DO!! !! !! (sadly). It's both a nervous and bad habit. I probably should be working with my therapist on this one.

I think I do, but I only ever think about it afterwards. Like when I surprise myself by how much I remember how s/he looks, so I dont know if I stare or just happen to remember a lot. 8D <-- its a stalker face!

I tend to stare alot at people who im close to or who I really like and I sometimes can't help it...
It did once get me into alot of trouble in the streets that i was really badly shaking and i was literally scared to outside for weeks n weeks...
But the funny thing is, when im talking to someone, I find it so hard to keep eye contact and the only thing that keeps me from getting anixous is playing on my mobile phone or talk to my friends. :D

Have anyone ever thought that you was not listening to them because you don't look at people?

I used to do it when I was in school. Unintentionally, however, as soon as I realized how much they HATED it, I started to do it intentionally. A way for me to get back at them, I guess. Some of my teachers said some people tend to stare into space when they were thinking, so I never got in trouble. Perfect payback.
