I think so... I mean, I'm not sure why someone would be barred from taking one...

I think it cost a bit of money. I've only had them done for psychological testing which is free.

You can, but you do have to have a decent reason for needing to know. For example, if your skills tend to be all-over-the-place, or you have trouble learning, an IQ test might tell you whether there are any weaknesses holding you back. But it's not necessarily an IQ tests that would be the best tool for the job; for example, if you're looking at a memory problem, there are tests specifically geared to check your memory, or if you're having trouble with writing legibly, interpreting visual-spatial information, and working with visual stuff like geometry, there are specific tools to check that...

You're better off, really, if you ask specifically about what you're trying to discover about yourself, and let the psychologist figure out which tests would reveal the information--they take multiple courses on psychological testing, just to learn to answer questions like that.

Only if you're willing to shell out the money. Insurance will only pay for it if there is an actual reason you need one (as opposed to being curious). Mensa is probably cheaper (or free), but I don't believe they give you the actual result- they just tell you whether you are in or not.
