I have been studying Psychology at a Danish University for a little less than a month. And the new life made me think about things.

Good things:

I don't have to hug people when I leave and I don't have too say goodbye when i leave (waist of time), because people don't know me that well. I can do social things however I want and people will still respect me. 8)

People are nice and friendly towards me. It is really easy to talk to people you havent even seen before. And people actually respect me a lot.

Everyone is new in town, so you fell like you have something in common. Plus everyone likes psychology/special interest. :)

You get money for doing your special interest. (only 1000 dollars, but is enough to pay the rent and buy food) And I could get a job or borrow money if I ever wanted too travel.

I meet new friendly people and I live in a new town, which is 100 times better than my old town.

I feel really confident and I love life. My confidence has actually sky rocked and I nearly dont feel embarrassment in any situations anymore.

I am doing something good which my life, and I am actually moving forward in life and not worrying about my future. 8)

Bad things:

People are too nice. And seem fake because they have just moved too a new town, and they need to be overly nice. But once they get setled they will probably go back being royal only too their social circle. So I am waiting 2 years time before I get social, I want my friends to be sincere. :?

People are fake and are only thinking about the diploma and they don't like psychology as much as me. (it is my special interest) They are trying too act 100% normal and perfect, so they are boring to be with.

I fell lonely and like I dont belong there, because I dont look like everyone and I have different interests and a different history. I feel like an outsider.

I think in a totally different way, and I haven't found anyone who I would consider my peer, and that makes me feel lonely. I haven't had a single interesting conversation for a long time. People are too young and too new at life, so I miss the dept in life.

Change is always hard, even if it is fantastic it is still hard, and has it ups and downs and new difficulty's that I haven't learn too master jet.

There are more things, but after 1 month these are the things I noticed the most. I hope someone will see themselves in my place. And maybe if you have been trough that you can give some advice on how to tackle the difficulties. :o

There were a lot of wonderful things about going away to college for the first time, too. They actually put me on a special interest floor (i was an art student at the time) with a bunch of other majors. They also engineered the floor so we would be forced to social, yet i always found a way to hide. problem was, my room mate was evil and showed her colors by second semester. if i had known that, i may have gotten a different room. oh wells. it's best to get a single, if possible.

thing i love most though is hanging out professors and the few friends i picked up along the way. school is way more diverse than old hs, which provides a lot of opportunities to explore special interest or find inspiration elsewhere. The libraries are fantastic!! ! for a while, i was really into blacksmithing, and they even had books on how to do it. one of them was really old, like from the '30s or something.

i hope school will be fantastic for you.
