Did anyone see the premiere of The Amazing Race last night? One of the contestants, Zev, is an Aspie. I told my little guy that there was an Aspie on the show and he looked at me and said "WHY would he do that?" I laughed.

One of Aidan's anxieties that cripples him is a fear that we don't know where we're going (the route) and that we'll get hopelessly lost. We can be on our way to a place we've been a dozen times and he'll panic asking if we know where we're going, shouldn't we have gotten there by now, why does the route look different etc. So on last night's show, Zev's race partner, Justin, lost the clue to get to the next place and Zev said very calmly "So we don't know where to go next?". I looked at Aidan who looked panicked, but Zev handled it brilliantly, asking Justin to retrace his steps to find the missing clue (which they did). I had hoped this would be a positive reinforcement to Aidan who just stared and said "I would NEVER do this show. NEVER".



Note: I thought it was a tad condescending in last night's show, when Zev gave away a jacket to a poor Vietnamese boy and one of the other contestants said "how proud he was" of Zev for this. Obviously, this NT wouldn't have thought of being so generous themselves and that Zev's gesture was a 'big deal' for an Aspie to be able to do. Maybe I read too much into it.

I watched the episode too. I liked it how Zev knew that by staying calm, you can herd the ducks no problem.

He was so calm through the whole thing! And yep, he had that duck herding down pat.

I hope he makes it to the end like that deaf guy on Amazing Race 14! One of our kind needs to win, but in heart I think he won't make it.

Unfortunately, Zev is gone, and it was a very disappointing way to end their race. And he tried so hard and came in first, so sad.

did you guys watch the elimination station video when they got eliminated on CBS. They explained what happened with the passport and where it was and where they found it so at least that had a happy ending even though they aren't in the race any more. Anyways, if you guys haven't, you should. It should be near the end of the video. Before, it is just talk from the people who aren't eliminated.

I just saw it, how sad!

I was so excited to see Zev on the show and KNEW he'd ace the duck challenge - perfectly! He did great. They both did great - even coming in first place on their last leg! I was cheering for them and then was crushed when they lost the passport and were eliminated! I just kept hoping they'd find it at the last moment... but no.

Where is the elimination station video that you're talking about? Is there a link to it online? I would like to see it. Thanks.
