okay, it's getting to be a problem, i'm addicted or something. i seriously may spend 9 hours on the computer at a time, given the chance. today being an example. i dont even want to go out anymore. or see friends. i hardly have interest in hobbies. its like...the computer is the only thing there is to do, and i get really stressed if i cant go on it. and i feel like i'm wasting my life away.

anyone else have the same problem? how do i stop!

I also spend too much time on the computer.I spend at least 80% of my time at home (excluding sleep of course)on the computer. But I never give priority to the computer over going out or sleep.
I think the main solution (for me at least) would be finding a hobby that I can do at home.

I used to spend longer on my computer. It doesn't really matter unless you're missing something important.

Get rid of your computer chair, put it in another room and only use it in the evening after doing things. I can't stand in front of my laptop for too long before wanting to go and do something else but if I'm sat in front of it I won't move for days. I'm being serious btw but drastic/strange but it really works

The Internet IS our world. It was invented and developed by people like us. (Look at Bill Gates)

On the computer I feel almost godlike.

I can find out almost anything I want to know about anything or anyone.
I can discuss any subject with like minded people around the world.
I can read millions of books or find obscure music or poetry.
I can slay dragons and build castles with my friends.
I can become world famous in a small way.

So what is the alternative? Hang out with bozos at a bar discussing football?
Not for me.

It's the main cause of why I have such bad eyesight :D Though after 18 it's not been as bad as when I had to get a new pair of glasses every year...It's the hobby of mine that has lasted the longest.
There's always something to do, where it's playing a game, learning new things or finding bad movies to watch online. (:

I have no advice except to try to find a new hobby. Teach yourself something new. That's what I try when I want to be somewhat productive.

I think its a common thing for some people to live life in front of their computer screen rather than going outside with friends and etc.. I'm one of those people who also spends a lot of time in front of my computer. 15 hours a day for 6 days straight and 1 day rest and thats a full time sleep as in like hibernating. =)

Yeah I feel where you coming from I'm in that same situation. I have snapped out of it before by signing up to the YMCA and exercising daily and getting a job. But things happened and I'm back at square 1.

I've had this problem.. forever.

I had an entrepreneurial ambition so I turned this problem into a productive enterprise, but otherwise, my life 'kinda sucks' relative to the outside world.

Computer addiction is because you have so many resources at your disposal. Everything is a distraction. Want to stop? Use an old computer with limited or no internet access. Believe me, it works.

Yay, 700th post!

Congrats on your 700th post, gramirez!

As for spending too much time on the computer, I am guilty as charged.
