So I've been a twitter addict for about.. 2 months.
Not like what they said on Asperger articles, I quiet have that sense of humor  .

So I like to make funny or witty tweets, and people are starting to like me because of my tweets.
They even RT (retweet) mine, even the popular kids 8O
and I feel happy and accepted because normally I hang with the not-so-popular
I always wanted to be accepted, tbh. I'd be myself and all you know somebody would call you a freak

but you know, deep down I feel so insecure. I typed my tweets until they are 'perfect', I know I cant be spontaneous.

I met my friends, readers of my tweets, at school and I would avoid them. I know they expect a 'fun' kid like my tweets, but if you come face-to-face to me, I would be a bit boring and silent.

I dont feel comfortable with this, it's like I'm divided into having an online personality, and a real life one

Is this a problem?

So guys, do you have the same experience? :) Being more comfortable to talk online rather than face-to-face?

[Anyway, this is my frst topic.. I just make sure that I'm an asperger today. Mixed feelings. Anyway Nice to meet you guys :D ]

Naturally, yes. But I feel a lot of insecurity online too. I often feel that I communicate through sharing my opinions too much, I can't keep a conversation going unless I feel "safe" with the person. Just look at my first sentences, lol? Even as I type this, knowing I still do it, I do it. And there we go again.

Do you consider it to be a problem? If it makes you uncomfortable, why do you keep on doing it? Is it because it makes you feel accepted? If that's the case, I'd recommend that you thought about it; using the positive and negative things against each other, one of them will eventually end up dominating.

Having the feeling of being divided like this may very well be a manifestation of joy. I mean, if you feel more accepted online, then it'll probably bring more of a positive thinking, which probably blows kind of a cool wind on the feeling of not being so much accepted in "real-life". Do you see what I mean? If positive events occur, more positive thoughts will emerge.

At the same time, feeling divided may also lead to great stress. Much like a system overload. The outcome will be the result of your capability to think this through and make the better decision. If you believe that you can keep this up after thinking it through, the chances of you actually succeeding in finding comfort in what you do is much greater.

Deep down, many of of us are insecure. We can only plan so much, then comes chance.

Grasp the words I share with utter carefulness, it's only thoughts.

I have been online since 1987. I must have written literally miles of text since then online. It has been my salvation before I knew I was Asperger's Syndrome and is my prefered way to communicate with people.

being hyperlexic helps.

yes, I find it easier to talk online, on Facebook and message boards more so than talking face to face.
I can talk Face to face with my neighbors and my family and my close friend, but that is all, lOL!

I think, the only real conversations I've had with people have all been on line. Real life, not really. I find it MUCH easier online.

I tend to look like an idiot in real life conversations. The thing I like about the interest is that nobody will rush you to answer. "Brb, bathroom." IDK I could make random excuses. Also people dont care if you lag behind so it'll give you a few seconds to think an answer.

Absolutely!

I understand cues online a hell of a lot more then cues in real life. >_>

I don't have to use eye contact, raise my voice, or anything like that...and I can just go on communities that are about a subject I am interested in.

As everyones being saying it's easier for me too. I thought I was the only one. I can just do whatever I want online, no consequences just be myself. It's easier because I'm never gonna meet u guys in real life so I can say whatever I want (within reason, wouldn't wanna get kicked off. Out of all the social networking sites I've been on dis ones my fav)

Yes, during 1st year university I actually started a conversation on facebook with someone I never really talk to in high school cause she was more of "a friend of a friend". We would hang out together in the same group but ya, only a friend of a friend.

Also, this year, (2nd year university) I started up some conversations on facebook with someone I knew from first year cause she lived in my residence. Again, I never really talked to her last year but she happened to live in the same residence as me again this year (but different residence as last year so some coincidence there) plus she is in one of my classes so I actually started talking to her face-to-face.

Conclusion: Facebook is AWESOME!! !!

Of course! thank science for the internet!

IM/Forums/chatrooms and the like are so much less confrontational and anonymous. You can be much more open and say things much easier than in real life.

This is exactly why I love the internet! I wish people in real life would give me time to think of a good response like I can online.

The only problem I find is that I spend ages changing everything I type because I start over-analyzing my words. I can sometimes be a bit of a perfectionist

I prefer talking on the internet as I can take my time and edit what I am saying (sometimes even days after I post it). I like that it lets me avoid feeling rushed to answer and because of that I avoid the difficulty of getting the proper idea across that I have when talking face to face, or at least avoid it most of the time . Too often, in person, I will not say anything or delay saying it to avoid sounding stupid.
