I just wanted to wish everyone a great one, and for those of you who celebrate it, how is it going?

It's going great. As usual, I don't eat very much of the thanksgiving dinner; I ate a little bit of macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, biscuits, corn, etc. I called my new friend Courtney on the phone. We talked for an hour! She is very smart! I really like her.

Yesterday, I bought a loom beading book. If you don't know what that is, I will post another topic on some forum with a picture of an example of loom beading.

Yours truly,

Christopher Grills

Believe it or not, I demonstrated an admirable level of maturity today. I called two people on the phone, and one of them, I had never spoken to on the phone. Because I have had a fear of the phone for quite some time, it was very brave of me to make those phonecalls. I realized after a while that those phonecalls were nothing to worry about, and I was not nervous. I felt just great!

My stepmom, my sister, and I were all in our van driving to the local Wal-mart. (we're visiting a small town in NY that we're not familier with) My stepmom made a wrong turn, so she went to make a three point turn. Our van went into a ditch in front of somebody's house! The people were having a big dinner inside; but amazingly 6 of them came outside in 3 minutes and offered to help. The guy actually went and moved his pickup, got something to pull the van, and the other five made sure traffic didn't run into the pickup. The pickup pulled our van back onto the road! :) I'm usually cynical, so I'm happy to see there are some very nice people.

We don't celebrate it in New Zealand. They idea sounds kinda cool, though.

This was my first Thanksgiving. I have lived in the US for nearly 8 years, but all I knew about how Americans celebrate holidays was from movies. Making acquaintances is not easy for me and during last 7 years I didn't get to know anyone well enough to be invited. I am extremely happy that this year was different. I was invited by a friend whom I met on WrongPlanet.

You must not be from the U.S. You have a great story, Magic. It is similar to mine in that I made a breakthrough gain by calling people I've never spoken to on the phone before. How did you get so used to celebrating Thanksgiving in the U.S.?

Thanks, Jason. No, I am not from the US, and I have no family here. Obviously I am not very used to celebrating Thanksgiving, as so far I did it only once (this week). However, it was very nice to be invited and spend that day with people.

By the way, I also feared making phone calls in the past. So I can certainly appreciate your victory.
