Here's the thing: I have never had a romatic/sexual relationship in all of my 44 years, nor did I ever have any desire for one & still don't to this day. Why is it that ppl judge me so harshly for that as if I am such a wierdo for that? I mean, they treat me just as badly as gay ppl are treated! Why isn't it ok? I get enough discrimination for being Jewish & disabled! Any feedback? I am sure I am not the only asexual in the world, am I?

There are a TON of people out there with the same philosophy. They're common enough that I've even met a few personally. You're not abnormal at all. You can probably find a local group in your area at meetup.com if you wanted.

The important thing is: Are you happy? If so, then anyone bothering you about it can go hang :)

Sexual life forms are the minority in this world

I've thought maybe about having sex, but decided against it--too much associated baggage (relationships, STDs, gossip, etc.).

You are not weird just because you fail to follow the lemmings.

Thanks everyone. I think I had joined an asexual forum a few years back but then got bored w/ it. I have to see about going to Meetup groups. I agree about the std's & relationship crap.

There's a clear difference between actually being asexual and giving up.

I see far too many members of this forum and even some neurotypicals who reach a certain age and make the choice to just resign themselves to being alone and sexless in a bout of self-pity. These people aren't asexual; they're in denial and effectively have given up on something too much to give up on if you truly have the desire for it.

Asexuals on the other hand, have no desire to begin with. What causes this is a matter of debate, but it's not a choice like giving up is.

I hate, hate, hate it when people call themselves "asexual" and admit they still have sexual desire but can't fulfill it. That's not asexual. That's just stifling yourself and trying to be something you're not.

Well, I can assure you, I have always felt this way ever since I could remember. I have never had a sexual desire, nor a romantic one. I just don't get what the big deal is for me to drool/lust after a guy, if I've seen one I have seen 'em all. Big whoop. (nothing personal, guys!) w/ girls, I just have 'em as friends, that's all.

Not having sex could semantically be considered "asexual," but I agree with you that it's an inferior usage. I'd prefer the term "nonsexual" for someone who doesn't have sex, for whatever reason, despite having a desire to.

That's silly, people can call themselves what they want it makes no difference to you. You of all people should know there are no absolutes in sexuality.

A person can have sexual desire, but no desire to do anything with it or only autosexual, etc. Horses for courses.

Not only do I personally find it preferable, but also admirable. I don't know anyone in my life who'd care if anyone they knew was asexual. Maybe odd, but not reprehensible or wrong. Have you considered relocating somewhere with more open culture?

Yes, I read that, but what did you mean by that? What reproductive activities are asexual & how?

Most life forms create new ones through non sexual means
