I got a Wii. So I wanted it for the Wii fit, but geez playing regular games with the wonky controllers SUCKS!! !! ! All motion controlled, point at the screen, blah blah blah. It's all so f-ing gimmicky. The graphics suck, the games suck. But if I traded the stupid thing, my family would put the guilt trip on me. They're all rooting for me to lose a few pounds with the Wii fit. That's the only thing worth using. Nintendo, geez, get your f-ing act together, and put out a system for US HARDCORE GAMERS!! !! !

Well, I like some of the games which use motion controls. Well really, just Wii Sports. And the pointing at the screen is good, because it's like a mouse, and the PC is a superior platform.

However, the vast majority of games uses motion controls as a gimmick. In Metroid Prime 3 you use it to move handles, throw things, and such. All of these could have been done with a button just fine, and whenever you need to use the motion controls to do something special it breaks the immersion.

The Nintendo 64 was of course one of the holy grails of video gaming, the Gamecube was so-so (though I did like the fact one could actually hold the Gamecube's controller properly) and the Wii is really only worth getting for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I seem to have forgotten to address your mention of the graphics: They don't matter. Well, they do matter, but they're good enough. They could've been Nintendo 64 graphics and I'd have been fine with it.

I think that I'll just stick with my laptop and save myself $300 dollars. The only thing I'd use it for, would be the Internet.

Well, that's a bit ungrateful but I can relate since I got a wii for my 40th. I prefer playstation (in fact I got a PS2 of my own - not for the kids) for Christmas this year - and I still haven't opened the PS2 box.

I prefer the PS2 to the Wii though. The PS2 controls are less gimmicky and easier.

Thus far, the only Wii Games that I've thought were any good were, The force unleashed and Zelda.

I was disappointed with the Graphics too.

If Sony weren't so stupid and if the PS3 was PS2 compatible, I'd have ditched the wii in a second.

My son got a Wii for Christmas and what he likes best is he can play all his old GameCube games on it.

Backwards compatibility is always a bonus as it encourages followers to buy the next generation console and still have fun with the previous games. I'm not to keen on it's button configuration, I remember the old days watching someone try to use the controller as if it had motion sensing. The old consoles didn't, but if you watch someone play, and they want to go left or right, they will lean or try to direct the controller in the direction instead.

That being said, I'm happy with my 2x PC's, Laptop, and PSP.

I think the Wii is more designed to get people playing of all ages and thus increase sales by having a larger audience that can play almost right out of the box and not restricted to kids who seem to understand it.

But, to me, the PC is far superior. As long as you have an ATI, or nVidia graphics card you can play almost anything on it compared with lesser graphics like Intel, SiS, etc

I can understand that you find it too gimicky, I mostly use it for Super Smash Bros Brawl, Twilight Princess, a Naruto game and a Bleach game. Nintendo was not looking for makeing a consoel for Hardcore gamers with the Wii, it left that two the PS3 and 360, though the Wii is the one that has been most financialy sucessfull, 360 has been sucessfull most in west and PS3 is larg in Japan.

But I do hear that Nintendo will release a consoel for actual gamers in a few years, but at the moment Nintendo are mostly doing gimmicky.

Well, in a way it was gimmicky, but they designed it for those that had wanted physical interaction with our games (beyond mouse/keyboard combos). I was one of those that wanted physical interaction, and i rather enjoy it. Now, i will say that there's little for the hardcore gamers, but it is a family oriented system. Now, if memory serves, this is the Wii's 5th year, so Nintendo should be pumping something out by the end of 2010 I'd imagine. If not, then they had best put out something that would WOW the hardcore group. Cutesy/funny can only last for so long in the game word.

My brother is a Hardcore gamer, and a devout Nintendo fan, and he loves the Wii. I am indifferent to it (I'm still into Nintendo 64).
Even I thought the Wii was a little childish though.

Depends on the game. I'm now playing Sonic Riders: ZG and it's compatible with the gamecube controller and that's what I end up using. On games that require the wii remote, I tend to adapt eventually.

Twilight Princess, No More Heroes, MadWorld, Deadly Creatures, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Trauma Center: New Blood. Also Okami, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition, Bully: Scholarship Edition, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed but those aren't exclusive.
I could name more good games but I don't really know where a given person would draw the line for "hard core" games.

I hate the Wii period. And Twilight Princess is just driving me f-ing insane!! !! My hands don't wanna work right, my brain is too slow or something. My coordination sucks, because the controls are just too stupid. Motion control, my f-ing butt. I want my 360 back and NORMAL, and a normal game controller.

Dokapon Kingdom. Why has nobody mentioned Dokapon Kingdom? It is awesomeness. Also: Have you been playing Wii Boxing?

Edit: Heck, I'd get a Wii just for DK, if I could afford it. I played it on my sister's Wii, though. It's a shame I didn't get a chance to play it with anyone else.

I don't know what "hardcore" even means anymore. Every "hardcore" game I've ever played was so tedious and boring, I could only play for maybe 30 minute sittings on average...which seems pretty casual if you ask me ;)

Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Morrowind, Fable 1 and 2, Mass Effect, Fallout 3. THOSE are GAMES. What the Wii has is fluff. Anyone gonna agree with me or what?
