been playing it for the past few days and I am not sure what to think. It's certainly interesting, at least from a standpoint of approaching rpgs. there are...errr...a couple of glitches here and there (xD). tactics are rather involved, and since I'm playing the PC version there's a bit of difficulty boost. Any thoughts/opinions/questions?

It's an alright game. I got bored with it though and stopped playing. Constant injuries and constantly overfilled item storage did get annoying. Sometimes it would glitch up on me while pausing battles to cast magics and skills. The sex scene in this game is really awkward to watch. :?

I'd recommend checking out some mods for it though. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/

I loved it, and I played it basically non-stop until I unlocked all the achievements, which amounts to about 300 hours of game time. I played it on computer as well, which is far superior to the console ones. The sex sequence is largely dependent on your actions in the game, which made it nice to have so much control over that aspect. I can't wait for the next add-on which was supposed to come out today but was delayed. And the first disc expansion which is soon, in March. As far as injuries are concerned, I extremely rarely died after the first play through. Because I learned how tactical the game really is and how much you need to pause and issue commands. If you play it more like Baldur's Gate, and have the presence of mind to be tactical and use all items at your disposal (including poisons and traps), and you zone enemies for devastating magic, then you can get through without dying much or at all. Even on computer, which requires you to be far more tactical than the console version.

I have been playing it, I have been useing a shapeshifting arcane warior, and mostly be offensive with back up of Lelina (lockpicking), Wynn (useful for healing health and wounds) and lately either Sten or Oghren (brute force). I also recently found how easy it is to buy ingredients for and make health poultrices, which is going to make even more efficent. I keep telling my brother off because he almost entirely ignores useing the other characters.

Bioware do some great RPGs and Dragon Age is no different.

There's also that upcoming Dragon Age Origins Expansion "Awakening" coming soon with a price tag of 39.99. I'm not sure to get it. Maybe wait til a whole pack to come out. Course, my characters are tainted online with their 999999 damage in the profiles @ the bioware social network. 15 Hours of gameplay =/. The game was fun for like one week before beating it and getting bored with it since I always tried to find the "Perfect" answer to ingame side quests.

I think Baldur's Gate 2 was better. The gameplay and story are on par but Baldur's gate had the strongholds, optional areas and much better party member quests which added a huge amount of replayability. Dragon Age lacks that so starts to get stale on a second time through. Also it was a bit too heavy on the combat, some areas just seemed to drag on.

I blame EA for the lack of optional content, they make it so you have to buy it (micro transactions trend).

I figured that a nuker mage does not work unless you also have a CC (crowd control) mage too, otherwise nuker mage nukes then dies every fight. Pure healer mage is probably best to make it easy (Wynne is good). The game is quite hard too, even on normal setting. Using lots of stuns, AoE stuns and anything that will lock enemies in place helps a LOT. If you run in fire balling and stuff be prepared for a dead mage (or cast force shield or w/e on him so he becomes immune to damage!).

Personally, I love the game, but I was also getting tired with how many games in the last couple of years have been "casual." So, finding a game that's both amazing storyline and gameplay while being difficult was nice. Also, try playing the game on easy mode yet without pausing. It's still very difficult the farther you get, but it's a lot more realtime and fast-paced (also, no friendly fire is a godsend). It makes using a Primal mage as main character awesome, especially with using Shale, Morrigan and Alistair or Leliana.

Probably my favirout spells are the sleeping/nightmare spells, sleep alows you to freeeze a large group of enemies, and disrupting them, tag with horror can cause heavy damage to one, and waking nightmare can send a small group out of control. Feels good to totaly disrupt a good ambush and put them into chaos. :D It makes up for my my mage having low constitution, though I also use the armour from the ghosts in the forest, but the ghosts were damn hard, but not as hard as the one in Denerim, it seems like it would take way too much resources to beat.

I've been playing the Xbox 360 version, and I love it. I'm intrigued by the storyline - it reminds me of one of my favorite book trilogies, in fact.

Of course, I'm still playing my way through on my first character (Dalish Ranger/Bard), but I'm a side quest junkie, and there's a few times where I've backtracked because I actually felt guilty about some of the actions I took (particularly at Redcliffe Castle).

I am baffled by how this game got past the censors as is, though. Jack Thompson would love this if he hadn't been disbarred! :P

A good combo for a nuker mage though is getting spell might. There are a couple of special affects this can give.

Spoiler alert here, if you want to find them yourself!

Spell Might + Raise dead gives a stronger undead

Spell Might + Lightning Storm + Ice Storm (forgot the actual names of those two)
This gives Storm of the Century

It will just about drain all your mana. However the AoE effect of this is so huge it will hit your mage if he casts it at max range. Furthermore the damage it does is insane. I guess if you cast this then force shield yourself inside the storm or cast grease and run it will kill anything, no exceptions. Perhaps only a revenant might survive, maybe.

I bought this game about a week ago, and while I enjoy it I've only been playing on and off. The "redeem" content doesn't work for me (no dragon armor and no shale) which is very irritating, especially as I'm playing.

Ive been trying to get the downloaded content as well . . . guessing i have to register the game in order for it to work tho (hate game registry). As far as gameplay, it felt awkward at first, and the whole tactics bit gets trivial (hate having to set their "A.I"). But its only little stuff, otherwise the game is exactly what Id expect from a good RPG. Granted, im not much for the sex, seeing as how it has little to do with the actual storyline (admittedly, i did get Morrigan  ). You kinda have to take it at face value though: You and your team have to both avert a civil war and defeat a demon-induced "Blight" while maintaining the friendships with those on your team. That is a challenge worth meeting Id say :D. I do wish there were more to the story, perhaps players should request a prequel game (assuming one doesnt exist atm). I give this game a 90% because there were some things that were missing and just as many that they could do without.

After spending some time at the official forums I managed to get the downloadable content, but I also found out that I'm completely screwing up my characters' talents and attributes. :x

There's no such thing as screwing up your attributes/skills because you're the only one who's gonna use them. Now, if you find you cannot beat the first few bosses . . . well, thats the only way you know you screwed it up. lol

Well, it's not that bad. But I like to optimize my characters in games like this, if I don't then I throw a hissy fit and cry in a corner.

I'm getting frustrated with Alistair though, almost every decision I make ends up making him angry at me and he doesn't want to teach me the Templar specialisation. I don't like him. >_>

You have to get their reputation really high, like 90+ I think for anyone to teach you their specialization. Alistair likes the demonic figurines and stuff for gifts. Funnily enough he doesn't mind the bones either heh. He is also pro-chantry so any decision you make that supports the templars or chantry should give you some rep with him.

I think more is about learning to play than getting the stats right. As long as your casters have the spell power to cast the spells and warriors have enough strength for armour.
