hi, i'm new on here and i have been diagnosed with asperger's for less than a week now. i hate to admit it but i'm really scared because i feel like the way i've always looked at myself and at other people is now wrong. i guess i'm on this site because i felt maybe it would help to connect, who knows, maybe it will make things less scary. i know i sound really mean saying it scares me, but it's the truth. maybe if they had diagnosed me earlier i would be used to it, but i just can't wrap my mind around the fact that the way i've always seen myself is wrong. not bad wrong, but incorrect. i just wanted to ask, do you ever get used to it? do you ever get to a point where you can really believe you have aspergers? just thought i'd ask, sorry if i sound really stupid.

I have come to a point where I really believe I have Asperger's, and I am greatly enjoying the ability to now see myself just as I am!

Welcome to WP!

Hiya VioletTiger!
It's okay and understandable to be afraid. And no it's not mean to say it scares you.
Maybe your view of the world will change but you are still You! That doesn't change with the diagnosis. Give yourself the time to get used to the idea of having AS. But what's more important is that you get used to just being you.
By having AS doesn't mean you are less of a person. You are still the same as you have always been.
Violet! :) Your going to be okay! :P

Welcome to WrongPlanet :)

And don't worry about the 'feeling wrong' thing. I got that when I was diagnosed but I soon felt better and perhaps even proud once I got to know other aspies at my college.

Hello VioletTiger, welcome,

I got diagnosed with Asperger's only recently and I 'got used to' it.
I hope you will get used to it soon as well and that you'll no longer feel scared.

Enjoy your stay on the Wrong Planet!
