See, that's why whenever I'm trying to lose weight, I stick to eating plain stuff like ham sandwiches on whole wheat bread.

Really? That's weird. Whole wheat bread is very good for you, and deli ham doesn't have that many calories in it. I also like eating tuna sandwiches, which I hear is "diet food".

The concept of diets go over my head. I'm a big, jolly Cockney. Let's keep it at that. :)

calories are important, but more important is the carb count, bread is a "fast" carb, like sugar, absorbed fast but will lead to a crash, english not my native language, hope I'm explaining myself.

one has to check if a serving has in average about 13grams of carbs in order to lose weight.

fruits/vegs are slow carbs, they go slowly into the body, and more important, they satiate.

yes, how did you know? I am really obese at 5'9" 130 pounds

I eat a healthy diet really high in carbs, about 5 meals a day, so I dont become to underweight

There is no one diet that is perfect for everyone, it all depends on your body what is best for you to eat. Regardless, the more that food is processed the worse it is for you, no matter what food it is. Think of it as a scale, a fresh apple is not processed any, were as a candy bar is highly processed (think of all the machines used in the making of a candy bar and how many steps are needed just to make the ingredients in it)

For the record I dunno if you knew this or not but if you eat several small meals a day instead of a few large ones your metabolism stays up high so you actually lose weight more easily.

Over the last year, I recently dropped seventy pounds through a weight-loss competition at work, similar to the show "The Biggest Loser". In my case, I found that the best way to lose the weight and keep it off was through moderation.

In my case, six of the seven days of the week was spent on calorie-counting. But, during that time, I never deprived myself of the basic food groups either. On the seventh day, I would go off the wagon and treat myself to something rich in calories. I think some people believe that if you're trying to lose weight, you have to deprive yourself of all temptations, but I found that if I let a craving go, by the time I satisfy it, it develps to the point where I will eat WAY too much of it in one sitting. But, that's just what happened with me. Everyone has their own body chemistries and the like, and what may work for one might not work for all.
