Hi all

First off, thanks to everyone of WrongPlanet.net for this great discussion board for us weirdos.

Sorry for asking this question if it's been answered elsewhere, I couldn't find it.
I noticed there's a "donation" button to the left, stating that the WrongPlanet.net server needs $ 4'800. I also saw some members have a "supporter" tag in their profile. Where can I find more information about all this?

What is that money needed for?
I'm just asking, because I have an own web page (with a forum) and although it gets very few visitors, I only pay about $ 140 or so a year. Why does WrongPlanet.net need $ 4'800?

Regards,
Mark

Because the server WrongPlanet use to be on was unreliable, and the site constantly crashed. Alex wants to switch WP to a better server, which is quite expensive, so that the site will be faster and more reliable for its users.

So the 4'800 $ are for a new server?

Why ta heck not just rent hosting by an external party?
That's WAY cheaper and WAY more professional!

Is Alex playing "server" at home?
I mean is he hosting this whole site on a box at his house?
