In the end, I applied to thirteen. 8O

If I had had a monad of self-control, I would have kept it around eight or nine.

Six. Only two I wanted to attend, and only one of those accepted.

Four or five IIRC. I remember even that many being pretty expensive!

One. I looked into several, but "got a feeling" about this one when I saw it. Applied there and was accepted, and absolutely loved my whole experience there as a resident (even managed to get a private room for my first year, until I'd found a good friend who made a good roomie for the next three :D ). Good times.

I only applied to one. Big mistake. I ended up transferring. If i could go back in time, I would've applied to 4 or 5 more.

Two. Does community college count? I got kicked out of sewing class last spring.

God I don't even know if I can remember them all

University of Washington (which is where I ended up going)
University of Oregon honors college
Dartmouth (rejected)
Duke (rejected)
USC
McGill
University of Virginia (rejected)
UC-Berkeley (rejected)
Northwestern
Boston University

I think there were one or two others that I can't recall. It was a bunch.

For grad school I applied to six:

Portland State
San Diego State
San Francisco State
University of Chicago
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Southern Illinois University

And was rejected at all of them except SIU which is where I am currently.

Why would Virginia and Berkeley both reject you?

And what happened in your undergrad days? Is there a lot of still competition in Washington? Just curious.

One, twice. It accepted my undergraduate application; I graduated, and it accepted my postgraduate application.

I've applied for three different degrees at University of New England in the past. I didn't get into the first two just after high school (science based degrees). I got into my third one as a mature age student a few years ago, have flunked out since (business based degree via correspondence).

Seven, but two I added after applying to the other five as I decided I didn't want to attend two of my original five.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology
University of Michigan
Purdue University
Michigan Technological University
Missouri University of Science and Technology
Kettering University
University of Illinois

I got accepted to all but MIT.

Just one, but I already had an associate's degree from the Community College of the Air Force, which is where you can take classes at local colleges while in the military, and CLEP tests, and get a few credits for technical training. I also had an associate's degree from Heald Institute of Technology.

So, I just went and signed up for my local university and paid as I went. The classes that I took for those associates degrees didn't count for much, but it got me in the door, and I never had to take SATs or anything like that.

I was about 27 at that time, I think.

One. My school is also a college, and I have a secure place as long as I get the right grades. Plus, there's no change of buildings, no haivng to use public transport, and I get to keep my statement :)
