Awful specs, I know, but it's a low-end Compaq.

I'm not running Windows (and if I were I wouldn't download strange exe files) but here are my specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz, bus speed 800Mhz
4GB RAM (DDR2 667Mhz)
160GB SATA Drive (5400RPM)
Intel integrated graphics, GMA X3100, 144MB VRAM
It was a fairly high-end system when I got it over two years ago, and I've since upgraded the RAM.

My big one's an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz, 4GB 667 Mhz FSB, 250Gb 5400RPM
NVIDIA 8600M running Karmic Koala
This one, that I use when it doesn't matter because it's easier to carry around is Intel Core 2 1.67GHz, with 1.5 GB of 667MHz and an 80GB drive. Running Windows XP because work is like that too.
Both of them looked good when I bought them...
My partner, who doesn't really care except that she has extensive processing requirements, runs a Dell desktop with 6GB of 800MHz memory and a low-end Core I7 processor. And a little Netbook she uses when it doesn't matter...

Specs
Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz with Hyperthreading
1 GB DDR2 Ram
160GB Hard Drive
Sound Blaster Audigy Sound
ATI Radeon 9800 AGP 8X Video with 128MB VRam (AERO Compatible.)
16X DVD Rewritable Drive
Partitions-
80GB Windows XP Home SP3
80GB Ubuntu 9.10
Older but still capable Gateway from 2005. Runs both of my OSes with great speed so why bother getting something newer at the moment. However if I wanted 7 on it I would have to upgrade to 2 GB Ram and a bigger hard drive for dual-boot.

I will never be getting a pre-made PC, so much more fun building them. Plus you know what you are putting into it. Hooray for certifications
I do have a printer/scanner combo, Im not gonna put it down though. As for OS, I run windows xp. System temps usually fall around 60F for system wide, 80F for CPU. Im sad that I cant use my new setup as a space heater for my room anymore. Now the room is always cold.
Motherboard
ASRock K10N78M (they used to be a branch of ACER but they recently split off)
-Link to the mother board Specs for those interested -> http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=k10n78m
Processor
AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHz Dual Core, Socket AM3
-Link to spec sheet -> http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/processors/athlon-ii-x2/Pages/AMD-athlon-ii-x2-processor-model-numbers-feature-comparison.aspx
Powersupply
-Dont Remember the brand, but its around 600W
Memory
-4GB PC8500 DDR2 DualChannel Memory (for those wondering, Supertalent brand, and yes, they have heat spreaders)
Graphics Card
-Currently using the Onboard until I get more money, I will then most likely be getting a 2xx series card, dunno which yet
HDD
-1TB western Digital at 7200ish RPM, its of course an IDE Drive, but as with the gfx card, ill be upgrading to SATA later on.
-1TB Seagate FreeAgent Go (the drive is purely used for backing up music, games, utils, and all kinds of other stuff.)
DVD Drive
- Some 8x Generic DVD drive from way back in the day, no clue on brand. As with the other stuff, I will be upgrading to a Blue-ray Drive, as long as it would still play ordinary DVDs. speaking of which, I think i got the drive from my IT class (well, they let us take old parts if they werent needed and stuff.)
Sound Card
-Soundblaster Live! 24bit
Monitor
-Samsung 2333HD 23" Widescreen Full HD LCD Monitor - 1920x1080, 10000:1 Dynamic 1000:1 Native, 5ms, 16:9, 2xHDMI, DVI, VGA, Built-in ATSC HDTV Tuner

Did you build your own car (or bike or motorcycle) from scratch? If not, why not?

Ive thought about building a kit-car once. As for why not, money reasons, and the fact I am not as knowledgeable about cars as I am with computers. I will admit that I enjoy working on cars though.
And im not bashing those who buy the PC out of the box so to say. I just simply explained why id rather build em, which is because I enjoy doing so. I can admit that if I didnt know how to select the parts and put them together + do the installation crap, id either buy it out of the box, or have someone put one together for me.
Ive lost count of how many ive built.
