Who else is with me?

I love their quirky mannerisms and personalities. They seem to still be kids in all the good ways. With a child-like sense of curiosity and innocence.

I aspire to be just like them when I get my professorship.

I wish they were better at justifying steps in proofs as opposed to saying "it is clear that ____" or "it is trivial that ____".

Now, I understand that students WANT that kind of thing from their math professors. If it's trivial and self evident, the typical math or comp-sci student thinks it's a waste of five seconds for the professor to state it, five seconds that could be better used in silence. But in this mentality we lose the ability to communicate and explain. Ask the math student that says everything is true because it's "trivial" or "evident" to prove a simple theorem from their field of interest stating every claim and assumption he or she uses in a way that is elegant and transparent. Odds are, he or she can't.

There is one math professor I know that fits your description to a "T". He's actually good at explaining as well - mostly because he writes the most formal, bloated proofs I have seen of any of my professors. But I absolutely love it, since everything is watertight and can be easily explained.

Haha, I've only had one nice math teacher, though I had a really good one last semester, she wasn't that nice. She liked me though, I just didn't like her.
The nice math teacher was really good for me, but a lot of people don't like her teaching style.
In grade nine I had this evil math teacher, I loathed him.

Math profs and TAs are kind of cool. I think Astronomy professors are a lot cooler, though. Both that I've had are really awesome. They teach well and crack jokes. Math profs, however, are hit or miss on their teaching ability I've found.

In higher level math, the professors are usually pretty bad at teaching. I just like them as people.

Same here. Even though I have a bit of trouble with the subject, there's this one professor that I really like. She's a very nice lady that's friendly, funny, caring and energetic. Plus she has a Southern accent which I think is really cool since I've only heard them on tv and hearing it in real life is even more interesting (I'm from the North btw). I never fall asleep in her class not just because she's energetic but also because of her accent (it's so interesting that I could listen to her talk all day. It's like music to my ears lol). :D
