Anyone have problems with styrofoam? I have a hard time touching it, hearing it when touched/moved. Similar to the nail across the blackboard.

I only hate the noise it makes when it rubs together other than that I like it

I hate the sound it makes it rubs against anything. The dry friction is tangible.

When I was a kid and still lived with my father and stepmother, they made a living for a while collecting cardboard from companies and taking it home to bale. Once at this appliance store when my friend and I were with my stepmother, there was a lot of Styrofoam around, and to occupy ourselves we took the big pieces and made miniature forts for the action figures we were playing with.

Yes, touching styrofoam or hearing the sound of it rubbing against itself, sometimes even just thinking about it, gives me the same kind of chills that the sound of fingernails scraping across a chalkboard does.

Ditto. Reading this thread gave me chills down my spine and made me tense up.

I freaking hate styrofoam! I can't be in the room if someone is messing with it. Ugh. You know a sound is bad when thinking about it is almost as bad as hearing it.

Now there - I have alays felt I frequency shifted or something. The blackboard thing - nothing. Styrofoam squeat - nothing. Both stupid noises, but not an issue. I put all of mine into nailfiles, rasps, the sweep of a finger across a corrugated guitar string.

If I bought anything wrapped with it I used to have to leave the room while someone else opened it so I couldn't hear it. I'm not as bad now but I hate it. I also hate squeaky food like apple skin and leeks.

Not any more bothered than anyone else by the chalkboard thing though.

Heck yes! Hate the feel of it, hate the sound. I still remember my dad unpacking his computer and me plugging my ears. It's one of the worst sounds. Ever.

I will echo all of the anti-sentiments about styrofoam on this thread. It's like stabbing needles to my brain. Even when I read the title iof the thread I shivered.

Oddly enough, my wife hates the sound of wet sneakers squeaking on the gym floor. If we really wanted to annoy each other, I'd squeak my shoes and she'd twist styrofoam.
