With Christmas comming up, I thought that I would start a conversation about something more Up-beat. I would like to know what Christmas songs and what types of Christmas Music you all like.

These are some of my favriotes:

Frosty the Snowman by The Rhonettes
Happy X-mas/War is Over by John Lennon
Silent Night
Away in a Manger by Anne Murray
this is bad, but I must say it... Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer
O Christmas Tree
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Pretty Paper by Roy Orbison

I also like some of the Jazzy stuff, like the music on my Charley Brown Christmas CD.

mediaeval madrigals and carols.

(quick rant alert) - why do i have to listen to christmas bloody songs as soon as i step out of the house from about the middle of november onwards? i may get homicidal if i have to listen to "miseltoe and wine", or (and i apologise, cockneyrebel) any of the above mentioned, again...EVER!! !

I like the less traditonal christmas songs. Mostly paradies, and updated versions. I've heard some pretty good Ragge (sp?) Christmas songs. wish I could remeber the names of the songs.

I worked in a grocrey store with a "muzak" system in it. Begining the day after thanksgiving, they started to play x-mas music, and by about this time of the month, it's playing x-mas music non-stop.

In addition to that, customers around the holidays seem to be in an even worse mood than the rest of the year.

And I had to deal with them, all while being cheered up by gayful christmas music!

I've been BOTH homicidal AND suicidal!

I like almost any Christmas song. I have been known to sing "Jingle Bell Rock" at the beginning of music class while my peers are coming in. I can never remember certain lines of it for some reason. Can somebody post them on here? Just curious.

I like some of the traditional Christmas carols, although I too wish they wouldnt start playing them non-stop so early in the season!

Carols I like include:
Gaudete
God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen
Silent Night
O Little Town of Bethlehem.
Adeste fideles (O come All Ye Faithful) ...for some reason, at the school I was at, the pupils who studied Latin were expected to sing some of the carols in Latin. We also had to sing a Latin carol called "Personent Hodie" which I guess is not so well known, but was quite fun to sing because it had a thumping loud piano accompaniment!

I am not so keen on modern Christmas songs, although (perhaps oddly, since I usually listen only to classical music!) I do have a particular liking for Jona Lewie's "Stop the Cavalry". You usually hear that one played a few times over the Christmas season, although not as often as some of the other stuff.

The librarian at my shcool showed me this parody to the popular poem "'Twas the Night Before Christmas.' She found it on the Internet on a site called TheOneRing.net

My sister, Kittycat, would love that. She loves the Lord of the rings, but I find it too hard to keep it all straight. :? My best friend, Courtney, tries to help me understand it, but her attempts are futile.

Anyway, back to carols, I've learned to play some advanced ones on the piano. I alter them a little bit. Some of them include:

I'm a grinch- I hate all christmas music. Yet another reason why having to go shopping at this time of year is so awful.
