Hiya everyone, I am a bit of a proud mum today!! Scuse the cheese and the bias! But my son, David had no friends 3yrs ago, he was lonely and depressed, nothing to look forward to....until he picked up the guitar and we discovered he was a Savant......or savant tendencies anyway, I will let you be the judge....

Last night he had his first radio airing....Pirate FM here in Cornwall UK, loved this version of Purple Rain so much that they aired it!! It was amazing and I cried......

We have worked so hard on David using our own methods and since then he has grown and bloomed into a confident, self aware happy teenager. He has only been playing for 2yrs (just!), self taught and he practices 12hrs a day weekends and 5hrs after school. He lives for the guitar, it is the way he expresses his emotions ....it is as important to him as the oxygen he breathes.

Anyway sorry I am rambling again. If you would like to listen to the interview do click here

And if you liked what you heard please could you email [email protected]

If you want to see him play it here is a link to youtube

The gifts, the joy and the happiness that these children and young people can offer society are massive, all we have to do is use a bit of tender loving care and we discover all these jewels......

Thank you for reading this and giving him your support, without being of the Autism Spectrum, he wouldn't be able to play like this. Hope you enjoy it. Sorry if I embarrassed him, I am just dead proud :D

cheers lelia, david here :D soz my mum is a bit embarasing  she let me put this message up. im really stoked that pirate had faith in my music and played it. it aint easy for kids sometimes specially when ur on the spectrum. but without it i wudnt be able to play as easy as i do. i really love it and hope that other kids will realise that they have special gifts too. i want peeps to know that just coz u have a diagnosis of aspergers it can mean fantastic things ahead not bad. i wudnt change for anything now i know a bit more about it and how to deal with it. cant talk about much else other than rock and others get a bit bored sumtimes ha ha!

thanks everyone for clicking in nothing is as gud as the original so if you liked it that is kool cheers.

cheers everyone for tuning in

Hey, just to let you know that since I first saw you play that (when your mum first put up a link a few months ago) my son has taken up playing the piano, and is progressing really nicely. I'm sure you've inspired a lot of kids, AS or otherwise.

Oh wow... Tears here! That made me smile - :D Cheers there!

How absolutely amazing. He's really good.

I'm really glad you shared your son's totally cool accomplishment. It's like there are so many people sad and upset about what goes on with their kids and it can be pretty depressing and hopeless. This is just a sample of how great our kids can be - if they are encouraged to try things.

Thanks for sharing.

:D Morning from the UK everyone. THANK YOU SO MUCH for clicking into David's music. WOW, woke up this morning to find such lovely comments. Tissues for all of us then! We could own shares in them, but this time tears of happiness?

It is so important that we support and encourage these amazing kids in what they are so great in. People tell me not to push him, you know don't be the mother from hell with a gifted child!! !! I wish I could stop him sometimes. David forgets when he is ill, hungry or needs a drink, he would quite happily dehydrate if I didn't supply him with regular drinks....he just doesn't identify his own needs as he is so wrapped up in the guitar.

THANK YOU EVERYONE. Pirate FM is a local radio so if any of you have a few spare minutes do email James Dundon at Pirate to tell them you liked it AND where you are? It's a bit like finding a bottle in the sea with a message in!!

THANK YOU...... and sorry for embarrrasing David!! But that's what mums are here to do!! Can't help feeling proud!!

David, that so totally rocked.
Mom, gloat, gloat away, that is talent he possesses.

hiya :D mum let me on again! cheers everyone, it is kool to know you are all out there and liking what im playing.

i have had loads of messages from other aspies and jelibeans which is awesome. mum is proud i know but i do get a bit  sometimes and then wen she dusnt mention it i get fed up so she cant win ha ha

to get the support is the most important thing u cant do it on ur own so thanks to everyone and its not bad being autistic its actually quite kool as if u tell peeps they kind of understand. i know i go on and on about guitar all the time and that it is quite heavy going sumtimes for eveyone else so i have to make sure i talk to them bout wot they want to talk about ha ha. trouble is i zone off sumtimes and say no wen i shud say yes ha ha.

thanks everyone on here, mum always says gr8 things about u all on here she says its the best site ever
going to get ready for school tomoz now :( got an exam :( :( rock n roll and thanks :D
