Not all do. I can't say I'm proud or ashamed. I just am.

For some, it's a licence to be an a-hole.

I like how you've hidden the message ASPIES TAKE PRIDE in your title.

Most of the pride-takers have talents and/or gifts to go with it. Most of those who do not drew the short straw and are saddled with unfortunate co-morbids that can make life suck. The vast majority seem to be in the middle, neither taking pride or avoiding taking pride in it, but simply seeing it as a condition like having an extra finger. It simply IS without the need for pride or a lack of pride.

I take pride in being an Aspie, because it makes me the unique individual that I am. :)

I take pride to being different and unique. Life be boring if there were no interesting people. I even like unique NTs.

People are proud about all sorts of absurd things, why not autism? I enjoy the unique way I can see and interpret things, I wouldn't say im proud, but I can understand how others could be.

What would you have us do, shrivel up and blow away? Hide in the closet and suck our respective thumbs?

When life hands you lemons, make lemon merangue pie "fake alias". Sorry you haven't learned that.

Being strange also isn't a bad thing. Being strange means being different, and sometimes that's a good thing. Particularly, if it's being genuinely oneself, rather than being different for the sake of being different. Those of us who think differently can have something to offer that others can't.

Who says all Aspies come across as strange? I don't. I can make the exact same first impression as a lot of NT's. Once people get to know me, they do realize I'm not the average person, but even then I come across as "quirky", and people find that endearing, not strange.

I don't take pride in being Aspie, though. What's the point of being proud of something you didn't do?
