to watch or play or both?

I like watching Basketball the most.
My favourite team is the Melbourne Tigers.

i totally lack the sports gene. that said, i find monster vehicle competitions have a sort-of geeky techy charm about them that makes me smile. i enjoy the brainpowered engineering expertise paired with street-smarts that i see on display whenever some sharp tractor pilot manages to drive his drag-sled through the mudpit all the way to the finish line. that takes brains and brawn, fire and finesse.

other than that, i enjoy watching women's volleyball only because the players are such beautiful physical specimens that wear revealing beach bunny sportswear. i would watch more men's basketball if they dressed in a similar manner instead of those ludicrously baggy uniforms they wear nowadays.

Boxing/kickboxing etc although for some odd reason I don't like watching it and seeing people getting hurt. Werid I know. Would prefer for it to be some kind of low-contact stylized event like ballet. Love watching ballet. Don't understand football etc.

My first love is ice hockey. Also quite fond of rugby, but it is hard to follow in the U.S.

i absolutely love watching football (soccer) and enjoy playing it, even though im next to useless in doing so, so its only with friends and not competitive

Watch: college football. Favorite team is the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (you'll be seeing that name quite a few times this fall).

Do: wrestling. I haven't for over three years because of my knees, though.

Favourites as a participant: Wrestling, football (U.S. style) as a kicker.
Favourites as a spectator: Boxing, basketball, roller derby (especially womens'), and powerlifting.

Sport I've always wanted to try, but so far haven't had the chance: Soap box derby.

BTW Pat, I think "Buzz" is the coolest mascot in college athletics. (something else I've always wanted to do as part of some team's cheer squad.)

For both watching and participating it has to be Mixed Martial Arts. So many ways to win and lose makes it so dynamic. Plus it is a great way to meet people. I've been doing it since 1997 so I know a lot more about it than most fans and in most gyms my aspie tendencies are treated as cool eccentricities of a valued team mate, not reasons to ostracize me.
