I have a idea for when you post under your icon maybe there can be awards or small icons that we could find or send across the site I have seen this on forms for other websites...

Yea, I actually like that idea too, but doesn't something like that already exist with the WP Supporter?

Are you talking about a reputation system, or something else entirely? I have mixed feelings about rep systems myself, I like the idea in concept but I've seen so many flamewars start over who gave negative rep to whom and why...

I'm not sure how likely either option would be to gain acceptance here, this place is notoriously averse to change.

I don't think he was talking about rep, I got those at the forum that I moderate in and apparently it ended up getting abused and now only mods and subscribers can only do them... It actually does kinda help but still, its a very bad idea Dox47.

I like reputation systems but I never cared for them so I don't hit the buttons much. People abuse it and I know one forum I go to and they have strict rules about giving out reputation. If you feel the neg rep you got was unfair, you report it to the mods and they look at it.

There have been posts here I enjoyed or liked and I would have given them a plus if there were the rep system.

As a support site, I feel a reputation system would by a swat in the face of the very concept of a support site. You could lower anyone's reputation for simply disliking a person, and flame wars could erupt, and that's not appropriate for the purposes of this site.
