My favorite movie ending was the one for Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. I loved how everything worked out in the end. It made me feel good. I also liked the ending to V for Vendetta. It felt very awesome; it was a grand finale indeed.

I wish I could say that I loved the ending to my main movie obsession (Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland), but I had a different ending in mind than the one the movie actually wound up using. So I actually felt a little disappointed that things didn't go exactly as I anticipated. I'm kind of hoping for a sequel, because the ending of the movie seemed to be open for one.

What movies did you feel had great endings?

The Mist.

Shocking, disturbing, unexpected (for Hollywood) and grimly realistic given the circumstance. Love that sick feeling that stays with you long after the credits have rolled.

Now that's a horror story.

The one for "Little Women" (1994).

"Wicker Man" had a pretty disturbing ending. Maybe not enjoyable, but certainly memorable.

Same for "Suicide Kings."

I loved it too, I thought it was better than the original ending.

"smokey and the bandit" where sheriff justice finds out who the bandit is only at the very end, just as the bandit is leading the sheriff on another wild goose chase.

"hedwig and the angry inch" only because the voyeur/viewer gets to see the beautiful sexy babe j. c. mitchell naked walking away from the camera- what a beautiful physique that actor has, with a perfect backside.

"one flew over the cuckoo's nest", when the indian breaks out of the mental ward.

tie between "carousel" and "ghost", both of which have the protagonist walking into heaven at the end.

"fun with dick and jane" [the original 70s version] where the good bad guys live happily ever after, and the bad bad guy [played by ed mcmahon] gets his in the end]

"the incredible mr. limpet" where all parties live happily ever after, sort-of.

This is kind of off-topic, but I've been meaning to see that movie. The only thing that's a bit off-putting about it to me is that the main character's wig reminds me too much of Lil from Squidbillies.

My favourite movie endings are movies that have a really great twist that I never saw coming: Saw, The Sixth Sense, Memento, The Orphanage, The Others, Gossip, there are tons more but these stick out in my mind as being shocking and memorable. Also, in recent memory, the very last scene in Joshua was pretty amazing.

The Good Son has a very powerful ending also, but for different reasons. And I agree with druidsbird that The Wicker Man definitely has an ending to remember (I'm talking about the original movie, but I assume they both have the same ending, they kind of have to).

I've also been meaning to watch that. For years. Don't know why I haven't ever gotten around to it yet, I've heard it's great.

Beauty and the Beast, not the very end but the suguey to it of the Beast's transformation back to "the Prince". Big sucker for bright lights and sparkles I guess.

The Outsiders, when you see the superimpostion of Pony Boy's memories of Dallas and Johnny Cade as he's reading Johnny's letter.

Billy Elliot, it's got a good ending without it being cheesy.

I don't have a specific movie in mind, but I prefer movies with an open ending to them, it allows for the viewers own conclusion.

I really have enjoyed movies such as Lovely Bones and The Notebook both evocating in their own ways.

Blade Runner (the final cut). For some reason, I find the ending very uplifting.

Galaxy Quest. The poor "Captain" actually gets to blow away a real alien villain for a packed convention crowd, and they get a new show. Silly stuff, but satisfying, sort of like the end of Mystery Men... "No... rage really taking over!! !"
