I accidently came across a load of different sources online the other day saying he was widely rumoured to have aspergers. I'd never heard this before and today with all the bigot stuff, theres a load more descriptions of him, which'd fit with this.
like- his well known temper, his social akwardness, weird smiles sometimes, his 'obsession' with politics, his obsession with justice and so on.
it was the obsession with justice thing which got me- what does anyone else think?
are we being led by an aspie??? though only for for only a week more, after this!! whole incident is classic 'thick of it', ha ha ha.

i think you might be right. after all it is a bit of a spectrum so it seems likely he has at least some autistic characteristics.

the thick of it is utter genius. Armand Ianucci is so amazing. he seems quite autistic too.

really- iannucci? you think? I love him, love his tweets. he DOES speak really fast, but otherwise i cant see anything. why'd you think??? do tell. I love the thick, I'm totally obsessed by it. reciting bits obsessed. I loved the 5live ep in the last series, I watched it like 30 times on iplayer. and the jamie malc extra scenes from in the loop, there will be blood, and shut it love actually. genius.
now the brown has aspergers seed has been planted in my brain I'm really weirded out about not thinking of it before- it does seem 100% plausable. weird facial expressions a lot, weird eye contact sometimes and so on. not everyone is aspeie scientist dude, i guess we're in every walk of life.

I really hope not, that's not the kind of association we need at all.

Wasn't there a big fuss over The Times calling him autistic a few years ago? The article was http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/u ... 634302.ece "'Autistic' Brown loses the plot" - but I see that a search for "Gordon Brown autistic" brings up a lot of stuff, some quite nasty.

Funnily enough, I had the BBC radio on the internet when this "very bigoted woman" story started and his reaction is just pricelessly hilarious. (Actually, whoever in Sky decided to make the private off-interview comment into a news story should see a psychiatrist).

Gordon - Yes
Armando - Don't think so.

I hope that he isn't.

I LOVE Armando Ianucci, too! (well, as much as it is healthy and proper for a man to love another man, that is...) Not sure whether he's Aspie, but he's certainly 'detached' from mainstream. He does a lot of sketches about "not fitting in" socially, despite his best attempts. The one where he's at a dinner party and everybody ignores him in vavour of a slimeball who has all the 'banter'. But it transpires that the banter is written down on pieces of paper hidden in the smooth guy's food...and later, he finds all the cool people have hidden ear pieces and are being prompted what to say by experts transmitting to them from hidden bunkers. Being Aspie does often feel like this.

As for Gordon Brown. I just wish he had the guts to say "I'm not going to apologise because she *is* a bigot. FACT, losers!! !! ". Our prime ministers haven't been real men since....mmm....Margaret Thatcher.

Oh yeah, on the Armando Iannuci shows. That sketch hit me hard, so true. He's great. Do y'all like The Day Today, Brass Eye and Alan Partridge stuff too? He's probably the funniest British comedy force since, I dunno, Monty Python or something. And there were 6 of them.

Sorry, going way OT again...

I don't think Gordon Brown is aspie, but I do believe Boris Johnson is. His gait and posture are very eccentric, and his body language somewhat clumsy in a way that reminds me of astronomer Patrick Moore (another possible aspie candidate).

Armando Ianucci? It's possible, I suppose - one thing that's for certain is that ever since "the Day Today" his comedy demonstrates he has a highly original mind, which may or may not be a byproduct of AS - but then I've never seen any televised footage of him being interviewed (although I have read his somewhat impenetrable columns in the Independent), so I don;t know how he comes across in person.

Proper?
Do mean you do not like him sexually?
Please do elaborate.

I don't think we want to align ourselves with an authoritarian, bullying, trouser-wetting, lying hypocrite like him. He has the sort of face that could scare the kiddies senseless.

In that case, all journalists perhaps should.

His weird smiles are trained smiles. Before becoming Prime Minister, he never smiled at all.

I think he does, however I don't think it should be reason to vote for his party and neither should it be a reason not to vote for his party.
