i just wanted to say about how much i love music. Music is the only thing in my life that can make me feel emotional. When i've been depressed and felt numb, i would listen to music to feel. Music gets right into my soul. It makes me sad and happy at the same time. If i had to choose between being blind or deaf, i would go blind. I would die without music, it is my only saviour.

I get emotional about other things too, but music is the thing with which I most strongly associate other things. And I know what you mean about happy and sad simultaneously - lots of pieces have that effect on me.

I've figured out that for me, music expresses what I can't in words. Instead of trying to explain how I'm feeling, in an ideal world I would just put on a specific part of a piece of music and say 'this is how I'm feeling.' But obviously I can't, and also different people react differently. But ho hum, never mind. Music is wonderful nonetheless :D

Same here. My best therapy is to sit back and listen to a favorite classical work.

I'm a big lover of music too, I cannot live without it and I usually listen to some every day even if its only for a couple of minutes.

When I was a child I rarely spoke; never volunteered anything. I couldn't even respond most of time. It was not even thinkable. I didn't understand emotions. I did not display emotions that everyone else did in the same circumstances.

Music was the only thing that ever gave what I was feeling a voice. When I sang, I could finally verbalize all that was inside; much of which I didn't even know was there. It is very therapeudic and powerful.

I listen to music for most of the day. Songs are always running through my head and I go through phases when can think of a song for nearly every phrase that a person says. (this drives my kids nuts!)

I couldn't imagine not being able to listen to music, if I had to choose between being blind and being deaf I'd choose deaf, as not having music is something I just couldn't deal with. I also have music constantly going through my head, and I carry my MP3 player with me everywhere. I'm starting to think I'm addicted to it or something; if I go for too long without it I get really upset and moody, almost to the point of withdrawal. :?

I would do the same thing. I love music. I really love video game music and I'm into finding music by Hilliary Duff, Lindsay Lohan, Puffy Ami Yumi, Koda Kumi, and Garbage. I use music to express what I can't say or at the time don't know how to say with words.

Music is the best, I can't live without it. Sometimes it's needed more then others; and damn it helps.

Music is like an old friend to me. I can put it on and close my eyes and find comfort. A friend who's always there when I need it.

Yeah, music definitely gets me in touch with something - almost like what you could think of as the gnostic divine spark. I tend to be kind of particular about what kinds of sounds and emotional currents pull me in though, for better or worse.

I hated all music until about a year ago. Now I'm generally into it, though I'm still very picky. The problem was that I was judging music based on what was popular. I don't know a lot of other people who like Industrial gawth rawk or movie soundtracks, so I hadn't heard a lot of it and therefore hadn't been exposed to the music that I now like. Thing is, my parents are into country-western, jazz, blues, etc.--stuff I hate--while my brother's into alternative, salsa, etc.--stuff I hate--while the people at my school are into either alternative rock (most of the white kids are like this) or rap/hip-hop (most of the black kids are like this). I hate rap, and dislike most alternative rock. I still find most music to be more of a distracting earsore than anything, but some of it I really like.
