hi i took a mind in the eyes test from Simon Baron-Cohen's website

i got a score of 19

heres what they said

Your score: 19
A typical score is in the range 22-30. If you scored over 30,
you are very accurate at decoding a person's facial expressions
around their eyes. A score under 22 indicates you find this quite difficult

what do you guys get on the test

28

I think what really makes it hard for me to read eyes in real life is
1. they move, and
2. they have color.

I guess I'm good at reading eyes, I just can't usually look at them.

I got a 21.

I would look at the eyes before I looked at the answers and think of whatever I thought it most looked like, and for a lot of them, what I had assumed did not match any of the answers at all.

Twenty-seven, which would belie our poor judgment of facial expressions, but as people normally don't make a face, then hold still for me while I take a few seconds to scrutinize it, after which they give me multiple choice, I don't think it is a very valid test.

I agree. The problem I have with this test is that it really tests how well I take multiple choice tests, since my gut reaction answer is rarely among the choices. I scored 26 this time, but I've taken it before, so I recognized some of the photos.

Lab Pet's score = 12

12/36 = 33.3333333333333333333333333333333..........................(n - 1)

The test is hard and at times I did have to look away as staring at another's eyes, even on screen, is hard. I've taken similar and never do well. Good it's multiple choice so one at least has a shot. Most of my answers were random since I cannot know.

Dang, just flunked the Minds Eye Test. But I calculate the score in my head. So there, neurotypicals!

True, I do find it difficult. I often find it difficult to accurately assign emotions to facial expressions.

You would score 9 on average by just guessing. 36 would be a perfect score. I'm somewhat less than halfway from guessing! A lot of my answers were also guesses, and many of the answers which were not just guesses were aided by having limited choices. If not for the multiple choice, as in real life, I would assign "good" and "bad" or "friendly" and "unfriendly" to them.

About halfway through the test, I also found it difficult to look at the eyes on the screen! It's like feeling the rectangles' edges pressing against my own face. Sensory issue?

16.

I was fine when I started the test but about halfway through I kept falling asleep in my chair. I guess trying to suss out people's eyes is exhausting to me.

Got a 15. I found almost all of them to be a toss-up except those with "fantasizing" as an answer seemed to be obviously that vs the negative others.

Considering that it is multiple choice I dont think it is accurate. I found myself thinking that the eyes were "saying" something that was not one of the choices!

Same here. For most of them I'd look at the eyes and think something like "angry" and then there wouldn't be anything even remotely close in the choices, not even "irritated" or "impatient" so I'd look at the options and look back at the eyes after each one and then choose the option that seemed the least unlikely. There were only two where I looked at the eyes and picked an emotion and then looked at the choices and one was very close to what I had seen. The rest of the test I totally guessed on.

20.

There was only a handful I had any gut-feeling for. The rest were guesses based on the options in the answers.

23--some of the women's eyes were so "made up" that they seemed lacking in any expression at all. did anyone else notice this?
