I do everyday, I'm fully aware there is no-one else, but I do it anyway...It's like "Instinct"
I tend to have conversations with myself and I seem to "swap" personalities...
I don't know many people with Autism/Asperger's also do it, but if you do, it's nice to know that i'm not the only one!

please reply

I do this pretty much every day, although I try to limit it to silent lip-moving when I'm not alone. It is essential for organising thoughts. I also often narrate the steps of what I am doing for any multi-stage physical task, such as cooking.

You're definitely not the only one. I talk to myself all the time and for me it feels like a perfectly natural thing to do. I do realise that other people don't see it that way though, and feel embarrassed when i get caught out because I don't realise someone else is there; even though they don't say anything. A lot of the time I talk to myself more than I talk to other people and I just can't imagine going through life not talking to myself. For me also, it is necessary for me to organise my thoughts.

Who else is going to listen to me? Yeah, I talk to myself, mostly reminding myself what I am doing right now, and to the dog and to the materials I am trying to manipulate (Oh, just behave! to onion I am cutting up and a piece has scittered off).

Yep, I talk to myself. It helps me process my thoughts if I externalise them somehow. I also write down my thoughts. Writing helps even more, because then my thoughts are in visual form, and I process best through visual means.

Talk to myself, yes, sometimes it's the only way I can get an intelligent conversation

I talk to myself, make love to myself, take myself out for dinner, laugh and have a good time with myself ... it's almost as if I'm boyfriend/girlfriend with myself. 8O

ADHD here...I definitely talk to myself though I try to be careful how I do it in public. It can be a help sometimes, when I have a lot going on, to keep myself on task.
