Does it even exist? I know that communities for adults with autism who can't live independently exists.

Anyway, assuming that almost all aspies are able to live independently, would you want to live in a community where aspies just gather together?

One thing I would like is that I would be able to talk to certain aspies surrounding the topics of my interests and if I acted a bit weird from time-to-time, other aspies would not mind that.

I rarely leave my home unless I have someplace specific to go, so even if I had other Aspies living next door, I'd never know. If I walked outside and one of my neighbors was already out in their yard, I wouldn't speak or make eye contact (and in this hypothetical Aspie community they probably wouldn't, either). So I don't know if it would make a difference.

But it would be the quietest neighborhood in town. :D

I'd like that.

It'd have to be minus the low functioning autistics. I have sympathy for them, but I don't want to live with them.

j6chan, I know you are a Christian-- could you bear to live in a community with strident agnostics and atheists?

I agree, that would be nice. Certain social norms such as recprocity are difficult concept to grasp for some aspies, and these will be necessary of any community.

That would depend on if I get to bring my guns and if I have space to eventually build a metal fabrication shop.

Lower functioning autistics would need it most, though since they would tend to likely need more supportive living services it would be best to move them to one area of the community in order to help them more efficiently rather than to segregate them.

I would like to live in an Aspie community. I only have a couple friends offline & I feel like people do not understand or accept me because I'm different form them. An Aspie community might make it much easier for me to find someone to share my life with.

Whether or not they need it most, I would only join the community if I didn't have to deal with them (especially non-verbal or those who can't dress themselves). If there was a community of aspies with similar interests, I would want to have fun with them, not take care of them. It would be an unwanted second job.

I would let AngelRho and Imnotaparakeet to do all the talking :P

Ok seriously though, as long as they respect me and don't stalk me everywhere yelling in my ear "God does not exist!!" then it would be fine. I would actually want to talk to them about things aside from religion.

I always said if I won the lottery I would make an Aspie commune somewhere. With all that money you need a tax write off.

No.

How is anyone supposed to learn about life by living in a bubble?

I'd like it too, besides that I'm able to spend time alone without being asked questions, (''Why don't you go to the mall with all of your friends?'') I can get along with fellow aspies better than with NTs. So I'd feel more comfortable when interacting with someone.

I think the result of this would be possible future segregation, so it's a bad idea. Living in an assisted home if needed is completely different than having a whole community of people.

I'd prefer to live, where I do, now.

I'm pretty sure I would like it.
