Hey there, it's my first time on a forum such as this, so I guess I'll just give a few basic details on myself, as well as asking whether any of you guys think I may be an Aspie.
I'm 19 and live in England, the West Midlands to be precise. I'm just finishing my third and last year at college, and am now planning on going into full time employment. At the moment I hold down a part time job pushing shopping carts around my supermarket's car park, along with emptying bins and sweeping both inside and outside the store. I currently hold an A level in English literature, and am expecting results for A level Communications and Culture and Sociology as well as an AS level in film studies.
I've thought for the past two years or so that I might have ADD, but then I stumbled across Aspergers and Autism, and as I examined my behavior and habits I began to notice that they fit symptoms with Autism and Aspergers quite closely. At the moment I'm more or less a hermit. I go out to work for thirteen hours or so each week, then go to college for a lot of the time each day, but after I go home (I still live with my family, for those who wonder) I more or less retreat to my room, seal it off, and pretty much glue myself to my computer. Needless to say I'm also an avid gamer and play many MMORPG's, particularly World of Warcraft. When I speak to people I find myself talking either to loudly or too quietly, and am generally disinterested in conversations with people unless they revolve around my interests (i.e. gaming). I frequently notice that I have numerous mannerisms that could be counted as habitual, such as flailing my hands around when I am excited, talking to myself when I'm alone, fiddling with objects and drumming my fingers against the desk... Basically I'm constantly in motion, whether it's my hands or my feet, or simply nodding slightly, I'm always moving. I also seem to instinctively pick up rhythms very well, and certain songs and rhythms will stay with me, often causing insomnia.
I stumbled across WrongPlanet today, and took a few of the tests that were on General Discussion. Here are my results for the ones I took:
BAP scores: 109 aloof, 121 rigid and 89 pragmatic.
The Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ) test (Baron-Cohen et al., 2001) :
Agree: 2,4,5,12,13,16,18,22,23,26,33,35,39,41,42,43,45,46: 1 point
Disagree: 1,11,15,17,24,25,27,28,31,34,38,44,47: 1 point
Score: 31
Your Systemizing (SQ) and Empathizing (EQ) Quotient Test Results:
Your Score 31 44 Extreme Systemizing
The Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) test (Aron, 1996):
Self-Test Results
You have indicated that 16 of the items are true of you.
Aspie-quiz
Your Aspie score: 142 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 68 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie
Should I take these tests as good evidence that I'm an undiagnosed Aspie?
