I've noticed it mentioned frequently here. It does not bother me personally.

It is so upsetting when I have to listen and watch people eat. I get in huge amounts of trouble for being irritated! Mom asked why I looked distressed, and when I explain very calmly that the noises were incredibly loud and disgusting, she became furious and wouldn't let me leave. I was extensively berated for my explanation..
I dislike it immensely..

I don't like to watch people eat, but I can usually ignore it enough for it not to bother me too much in social settings. What I really dislike is for people to watch me eat, I hate it. My mother likes to stare at me while I'm eating and I've yelled at her about it a few times.

If I get fast food I always just go through the drive through and then park so I can eat in my car, rather than going inside or just waiting till I get home to eat.

Soooo...what happens when you hear yourself eating?

Or see your reflection during a meal?

Do you just avoid crunchy foods and shiny packaging?

I can only assume restaurants are out of the question.

Yes that's like me. Sometimes have to go to another room to eat alone.

My thoughts exactly. Even more, it's my mom too that irritates me the most.

Doesn't bother me, though I will never understand why people like eating together more than alone.

There are really loud eaters. That is my issue. Perhaps you haven't encountered them..

I hate looking into mirrors in general.

I like shiny things (other than mirrors  ) actually.. and I'm partial to ice cream and strawberry nutrigrain bars. I doubt it is because they are quiet consumables though.

Hm. Loud, crowded places crammed with chomping humans. Sounds fantastic. I must be missing out.

There's something weird about the communal eating ritual. Maybe it's weird to me because I'm hyperaware of everything about the process but the human element. Urgh

Smacking or slurping noises particularly irritate me. If I'm trying to eat around it I can't, and won't eat for several hours (if I'm lucky) after...

I can't stand to be watched eating though, unless it's someone I'm more intimately comfortable with. Anyone I'm even remotely uncomfortable with and it feels like they're... observing me. It seems... kind of disgusting, inappropriate, like it's something private. Almost like if someone walked in and stared at me while I was using the restroom. X_X Which, thinking about it, actually might bother me less. O_o;

I can't even think about it. It makes me very angry.

I'm okay in restaurants with the eating aspect but i can't spend too much time in a restaurant as i become overwhelmed eventually.
I really hate it when i can hear a person eat though. It makes me pretty angry and annoyed.
