Im an anime fan, and watch a couple of series and look for new ones to watch that interest me.

Im usualy not that interested in so called "Slice of life" anime, but a few days ago i encountered an anime named
"Welcome to the N.H.K"
The main character Sato and also the three other main characters "COULD" have Asperger's, or atleast something simular. Sato does seam to suffer from paranoia and/or schizofrenia (When he talks of conspiracies and when things in his room start talking to him, and he reacts as if its normal. Thers even an episode where he suffers a paranoid psychosis as he sits in a casroom.

This anime might not contain supernatural elements or any sort of fantasy or sci-fi (Its a "Slice-of-Life" anime after all)
But it realy does hitt verry close to home for me as an aspie, even if the characters might not have Asperger's sometimes.

So besides Recomending "Welcome to the N.H.K", a deep look at the world of different people, i want to ask any fellow anime fans out there, is there any Anime you have seen that hit you close to home as an aspie? Is there characters in the anime that seam to be aspies? The character doesnt have to fit completely into the diagnose, as long as something fits.

OMG Sousuke Sagara from Full Metal Panic!! ! He has no social skills and is obsessed with combat. I just plain love him!! ! He'd be my perfect boyfriend.
Personally though I feel I myself am a horrible combination of all three pilots from Evangelion neon genesis. I have difficulty with facial expressions and understanding social situations like Rei. I have difficulty with being close to people and have social phobia, anxiety and depression like Shinji, and I have this need to prove myself and my worth as a human being by being the best of the best, when I fail at something it is the end of the world and I start hating myself like Asuka. Evangelion will always be my fav anime because Yoshiyuki Sadamoto is my fav artist. His work is very breath taking and has influence my interest in anime.

Id have to agree with your examples, especially the evangelion ones.
as for other anime/anime characters, lets see...

L from Death Note (Ive seen him mentioned a lot in relation to AS)

Amuro from Gundam Universal Century (yes he is a newtype, but the thing is in the beginning of the series before he finds out he is a newtype, he is very much socially inefficient (ESPECIALLY SO IN THE NOVELIZATIONS). Hell since newtypes really are more or less really only good with empathizing with other newtypes, you can argue that its similar to the whole People on the spectrum gravitate towards others on it.)

Pretty much any character that is based around Japans Hikikomori Subculture.

that is about all I can REALLY think of at the moment.

I will put in "Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei" (Goodbye Mr Dispair), it is an interesting comedy with a lot of characters with different dissorders, some of which have AS tendencies. Ok the teacher is often depressed, wears out of place clothing and rarely has eye contact. His students include a deslusional happy girl, and OCD girl, a usually quite girl who has a deep obsession, a hikikomori with agrophobia, an obsesive stalker, a girl with strange tastes (yaoi, cat ears etc), an incredibly shy girl who doesn't speak (though is very abusive by texting), a girl with two personalities and a shy insecure girl who constantly feels the need to apologise for things (she especially hits close to me).

Death Note has L, many people seem to think he has AS tendencies, he is interesting habits to put it lightly, and also has very little social abilities.

Might add Azumanga Daioh, Osaka is very spacey and thinks differently to others, Sakaki is very quite and afraid of upseting others and Tomo well she is probably more along the lines of ADHD.

There are a few characters in Clannad that might, aswell as possibly in Kanon (preferebly 2006). Might continue with other KEY anime, from Angel Beats the character they call "Angel" might be with quite behaviour, social awkwardness and such, ok I mostly said Angel Beats because it just finished and is an awesome series with lots of cool diferent and eccentric characters and "Angel" also has some cool fights, which I liked.

Light is definetely not a aspie. He's too good manipulator.

I think Light was just extremely sociopathic.

Light also had a strong feeling of right and wrong with strong logic. The guy from welcome to the NHK is not an aspie he has a lot of problems though.

Yugi/yami from yugioh is an aspie.

Some aspies CAN be good manipulators however, thus your logic is flawed right there.

How about Luffy from One Piece? He doesn't understand Social Norms and will ask people or say things to people that would be considered inappropriate or mean to an NT but he just says it because it's just a question or statement to him. Also his attachment to his Hat is another Aspieish thing.

Also Haruhi from The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya screams Aspie to me as well (for the same reasons as Luffy and add in her anger fits at time and instead of the attachment to the hat like Luffy has she has an attachment to Kyon but a non sexual one)
