So I was looking forward to eating my chocolate chip cookies all day. I had two 1 gallon cartons of milk in the fridge, one 1/4 full that I bought last Friday and a new one I got today. I poured the 1/4 carton into my cut and went upstairs and after taking a bite of my cookie I realized the milk was sour, so I poured it out.

"No biggie" I though. "I have a brand new gallon in the fridge." I opened the 2nd carton and took a bite of the same cookie, and how wonderful that this carton was sour as well.

No dessert for me tonight :(

I'm sorry about the sour milk incident.

Thank you

I'm more upset about my routine being broken than anything. Every night before bed I have chocolate chip cookies and milk.

I am horribly bad at dealing with things not going as planned.

If I were you, I would buy some chocolate chip cookies pre-made for backup just in case things like this happen.

I am well stocked, as you can see. The fault lay in the milk. I can't eat cookies without whole milk. And BOTH milk containers were sour, one being brand new and sealed. The odds of this happening.....and it's not a rare occurrence.

Well at least the chocolate would counter/mask the sourness of the milk. Plain sour milk is awful awful bleaahhh.

I get my milk at a well air-conditioned supermarket with high grade refrigerators, and I still get sour milk 5-10% of the time, even when the expiration date is weeks from now. I'd hate to think what kind of luck shoppers of 7-11 have with perishable foods.

Soy or almond. Rice is too water-y.

don't they make powdered milk? I doubt it'd spoil, but I don't know how good it'd taste.

Powdered milk is disgusting. I wasn't too fond of the taste of soy milk, but I was completely sold on Almond milk (esp chocolate) as a standalone drink. Problem is that it doesn't go that well with my cookies.

Maybe I should switch to Horizon Organic for my Moo Milk....or find a pregnant lady.

I am lucky few of my food-preferences are perishable. I can buy month supplies for what I eat everyday (soup, + oatmeal or cereal).

Could have been worse. You milk could have been sour and spilt.

Never take the carton from the front of the shelf at the supermarket. Stock rotation means that the fresher cartons will be at the back.

Awful.

I like milk but will only drink it if it is just opened and very cold. If it sits in the refrigerator for more than one day... no. (a wonderful medium for bacteria and the souring) :ncool:

Soured milk is great, especially when it's hot! Lactobacteries have good influence on intestines and immunology system.
