Who else is annoyed by singers taking audible breathes in between lines? It drives me crazy.

Yes I hate this too, it's very distracting.

All singers should:

The only experience I have with sining is singing cadence, which is quite hard. I am fine with taking breathes as you have to, but it is just annoying to hear it.

In raps, they'll keep going for ages without there being any breathing in the song.

As you say, if you need to breath while singing, edit it out of the song. It isn't exactly a hard thing to do.

That also drives me crazy. More and more artists seem to be doing that, though.

Ahahaha! I used to be transfixed by watching singers run out of breath and then have to suck in air as gracefully as possible. Who knew what song was being sung, I was busy waiting for the exact moment when life could no longer be sustained without gasping. I'm so glad I've gotten over that annoying compulsion.... it really did ruin every song.

See it from another angle. Specially in a live performance, an audible breathing pause might indicate the singer is actually singing and not just using a playback... 8)

Every breath not taken topic

Trying to figure this one out. I do not regularly listen to rap but I was not aware they do not audibly breathe. I just cannot figure out how they talk on like that for over five minutes. Large lung capacity may be a reason. :?

It can be really annoying. But I think there are a few exceptions, like "Je t'aime, moi non plus" by Serge Gainsbourg/Jane Birkin... let me just say I think the breathing sounds very pleasant and appropriate for the subject matter in that one, haha.

It can easily be edited out.

I like hearing it anyway...it makes it sound more natural.
