Ever have awkward conversations with a significant other that you have been with for several years? I do sometimes. Mostly when we are talking on Skype (I am deployed to Iraq right now.) Maybe this is because it's difficult to read her on a computer. Still, it gets awkward sometimes and then I just start trying to keep things going with off the wall humor or something that just kinda falls flat or comes across as weird. Anyone else still have trouble with small talk or conversations with significant other's that you have been with for a long time?

I do, all the time.

I was reminded of this just last night. Hubby and I spent some time playing cards. We don't talk when we play cards really. Unless it's to discuss the game we're playing... or something comes up. It's weird...in a way. Felt awkward to me.

We watched a movie last night afterward, that was less weird because there's no pressure to talk and it's okay to be silent.

Thanks for your service.. and I hope you find a way around the uncomfortableness of skyping with her.

First, thanks for your service to our country and second, I've been down that path. I make horrid first impressions, since I've tried dating from the friend stool. I'd love to make a case for dating your friends.

use it as a segue to tell her how much you miss her!
