What operating systems do you use? I use Ubuntu 10.04. I know, it is simple, but I have been a Debian guy for years, and when I started using Ubuntu I liked it because it is simple.

I'm mostly using Ubuntu now. I stopped using Windows for most things in 2006 and only use it for games currently.

I use Windows Vista.

In all honesty, I have had no problem with Windows Vista. I don't think it's particularly worse or better than any other operating system, but I don't see any reason to switch to one I'm not used to as this is working just fine for me.

Windows, *BSD's and Linux, different versions/flavours for different uses.

I use Windows XP running in a virtual machine on my Gentoo Linux distribution for the few programs that absolutely require Windows. Gentoo Linux is what I use on my home computer, and Mandriva Linux is on my lappy. I also have a computer that runs BSD and Open Solaris.

Currently booted up in Windows 7 x64, to see if there is any reason why I need to keep this OS on my hard drive taking up space (haven't used it in a few months). So far it looks like the answer is "no" so I'll be deleting this partition soon. I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard still on here as a sort of "fail-safe" and my main OS is Linux Mint 9 (basically Ubuntu 10.04 with some minor customizations). I'm looking to add PC-BSD 8.1 to the mix, since it looks like a very interesting project.

I'm going to install Ubuntu when I get the time.

Linux Debian 5 is now default for me, but I still have to go back to Windows to use my printer and to do some other things I have yet to either bring over or figure out in Debian.

I'm very surprised Debian has given you printer issues. When I installed Lenny, it found and configured network printing for me without me even realizing it. What sort of printer is it?

An HP F2430. It does not show up in the list of printers in CUPS, yet I did find "hpc2430s.ppd.gz" at the CUPS site. It seems to install and it shows up in "printers", but its icon remains half-toned and the HP utility says "Printer not found".
