I think it's the best decade in music, even though I was born in the 90s. All the songs from that era just have this unique beat that I can't explain. It's awesome. My favorite artists are Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, and Phil Collins.

Sure, there was awesome music in the 80s - Kate Bush, Marillion, Planet P Project, Wendy O & The Plasmatics, Icehouse...Joan Jett...

Cyndi's still cute, even as an old woman. Dig up a movie she did with Jeff Goldblum, called Vibes. She was hot. :P

Did you know that Rob Hyman from '80s band The Hooters (All You Zombies; And We Danced) wrote Time After Time?

And that scratchy lil' bit right before 'Yeah-Yeah' on She's so Unusual, is a song from the '20s called 'He's so Unusual', made famous by Helen Kane, the singer who's voice was mimicked by Mae Questel for the Max Fleischer Betty Boop cartoons? Though there was another version very popular at the time, recorded by Annette Hanshaw.

That's all!

I have a head full of useless music trivia...

I like a lot of music from the '80s, too. I don't judge music based on what decade it came from, though, I judge it based on whether or not it appeals to me. Just as there are a bunch of '80s songs I like, there are also some '80s songs that I don't particularly care for.

Found in the 80s topic

This is one time period I would like to revisit, but at the age I was then. I would not enjoy it if i was my present age.

I was born in Nov of 82 & I didn't listen to music a lot till I started high-school but I really like 80s I used to listen to 80s stations online a lot a few years ago. I'm big fan of
Madonna, Phil Collins(Genesis was pretty good to thou) Rick Springfield, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Billy Joel, Survivor, Talking Heads, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Run DMC, The Cars, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, The Cure, Til Tuesday, Vixen
to name a few. Some of you guys mite be kind of surprised by half of what I just named considering my pop & comedy obsessions. Calm down & take a deep breath cuz I DO like a wide variety of music

Sure. For starters there was Djam Karet, Jane Siberry (if you like Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, or Joni Mitchell, check out her website; all her music is now available for free), Steve Roach, Michael Jones, Stephan Micus, Jandek, some Van Morrison stuff from the early part of the decade, Pere Ubu, Hüsker Dü, Unrest, Camper Van Beethoven, The Minutemen, Sonic Youth, Metallica, Rush from the early part of the decade, Voivod, Current 93, Einstürzende Neubauten, Nurse With Wound, Swans, Coil, and Prince.

I like the first Phil Collins album, Face Value. Sort of a guilty pleasure.

Yes I do!!

DURAN DURAN was my favourite band - theirs was the first concert I went to back in 1983.

Like many girls at that time I thought John Taylor was hot!!

I used to buy the teen music magazines and have Duran posters all over my bedroom walls.

Blondie, Kate Bush, Wham, Spandau Ballet, A-ha, Adam and The Ants, Scritti Politti, Bon Jovi, Poison, Def Leppard, INXS, Madonna.

My favourite songs from the 80s:

Duran Duran - The Reflex
Madonna - Into The Groove
Poison - Every Rose Has It's Thorn
A-ha - Hunting High and Low
Kate Bush - Babooshka
Blondie - Dreaming
Wham - Wake Me Up Before You Go Go
Def Leppard - Love Bites
The Smiths - This Charming Man
The Jam - Town Called Malice
Adam and The Ants - Stand and Deliver
Madness - Baggy Trousers
Spandau Ballet - I'll Fly For You
Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead Or Alive
