Hi everyone,
I'm Zoe, based in Leeds. My Asperger's diagnosis (as an adult) has led me to take a fresh look at life, and I'm keen to know or chat to other similar adults, especially if you're nearby.
By the time of my diagnosis, I had 2 university degrees and had worked in a truly diverse range of jobs. I'm now a Personal Trainer in a gym, and think I've finally got it about right work-wise (so far - not been doing this for very long. Fingers crossed).
I didn't previously know much at all about Asperger's, but after the initial surprise on diagnosis, it's as though the mystery of my entire life has been solved. In the past I've achieved things that people would normally associate with intelligence, like going to uni, yet have always felt very conscious that there are different TYPES of intelligence, and that what type of intelligence I have isn't often relevant or useful to the world I live in. I'm now in the process of finding out why.
"Chat" is a term that many of us aren't comfortable with, and I totally, TOTALLY relate to that. When I say "chat" (above) I suppose I just mean 'compare notes', exchange views, that sort of thing. I'd like to know who you are, what you think, what interests you, what's brought you to the forum....and WHATEVER your interests are it really is fine by me. I spent my childhood taking digital watches to pieces!
Currently....
I'm pretty obsessed with my Blackberry phone. It's a Curve 8300, not one of the newer ones but it accompanies me everywhere, including to the lavatory. Another thing for me is Facebook - via the Blackberry.
A further, more long-term obsession is composing bass lines to music. I now play in a band.
I have a pet lizard, which quite a few people seem to find squeamish. But he's great! An excellent listener.
