that section just south of the ribs on the right front side seems to have been feeling kind of tender lately. I'm wondering if it's something internal *shrug*.
What organs are in that area anyways?

Possibly stress-related? But the last time i had high stress and pain, it was chest pains.
Curious

you a drinker? Or do you use any specific drugs regularly?

Because I am (a drinker), and that's where the liver is around, and mine hurts occasionally, presumably as a result of my alcohol consumption.

Your GP can give you a blood test.

edit: or your family doctor, whatever you call that where you live.

Go have it checked out. There are at least 4 organs on the right side that could cause pain if infected/inflammed: kidney, appendix, gallbladder, and liver. I am not a medical professional, but know a little about anatomy. I would go have it checked out if I were you esp. if it is severe, ongoing, or just plain uncomfortable. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

no, i'm not a drinker and the onlydrug i've been taking regular is Paxil.

Though i've been under huge amounts of stress lately which is also why i wondered if it might be stress related.

on the other hand it might be nothing at all.

well, i have a doc appointment anyways coming up 'cause i have to go to them every so often to stay eligible for Disability Benefits, and 'cause my doc wanted to see how i'm doing on the Paxil they prescribed the last time i was there.

So i suppose as long as i'm there, i can ask about this as well :? .

Have you had a persistent cough or have you been laughing?
It may even be a little bit of gas...

nope, no cough.

& what's laughing have to do with anything :o ?

didn't really feel like gas though. 'cause like i didn't fart or anything, and i've had gas before, but never felt anything in that spot before.
Usually if i have gas, i feel it a bit lower and more towards the middle rather than off to the right. Besides that, gas has never had any kind of pulse-like feeling :?

it's feeling better today btw, still don't know what it is, though, if anything at all. But yeah, going to ask my doctor when i go in for my appointment on the 23rd.

[puts on doctor hat]

I think you have your answer.

BTW, the discussion of anatomy has completely left out the most usual organs involved in pain in this region: the muscles.

Stress --> muscle strain --> pain. It may be as simple as that.

See a doctor if it's worrying you... As a NON-doctor, I'd make an uneducated guess (based only on personal experience with my own body), it's either a pulled muscle, or a gas cramp due to a kink in the intestines. The abdominal muscle group has plenty of small fibers that are easily injured if you twist wrong, etc. Between riding dirt bikes and lifting weights, I have hurt just about every muscle I have, and 20 more that I didn't know I had, LOL...

If you have laughed for an extended amount of time it will cause muscles uncommonly used in the area to spasm and fatigue greatly. I asked because I've experienced this in the past. I'm going to guess that you have a pocket of gas in a new area that hasn't worked itself out. I could be wrong though.

Hate to ask- Have you had a poo in a while? Or have you had more loose stools lately. I ask because every time I have ever gone to the doctor with extreme abdominal pain it has been stool- embarrassingly displayed on the X-ray. I thought I was dying a few times, really.

I hope you feel better and the doc figures it out (something minor and easy to treat hopefully).

What kind of pain is it? Sharp, dull, burning?

Does it radiate to any other part of your body?

What are you generally doing when it hurts?

Does it hurt before, after eating?

Does it hurt before, after a bowel movement?

On a scale of 1 to 10, what would you rate the pain at?

Have you noticed any other symptoms associated to the pain?

Is your skin more yellow than normal?

Are your eyes a little yellow?

Are you bloating?

If you press your thumb against the side of your ankle (outer), hold for a few seconds and let go, do you see any indentation which lasts more than a second or two?

Are your ankles swollen?

Do you find that the pain is more severe after drinking alcohol?

Are you running a temperature?

Generally if you are having trouble with your gall bladder, you will experience pancreatitis which is hard to miss, as morphene is the usual pain killer prescribed for that sort of pain.

If you have appendicitis, usually the pain presents within the lower left quadrant - even though your appendix is in the lower right quadrant.

If you have liver damage, you may notice a change in skin color and eye color. You may also notice more swelling and water retention.

If you find that the pain is associated to any new medications, you should speak to your doctor sooner, rather than later. As in quick as you can without an ER trip - unless the pain becomes unbearable or your skin turns yellow, at which point call the EMT's.
