For myself, I don't really see any particular area where I'm a savant. Mathematics, maybe a little bit smarter than the average but nothing spectacular.

I do have perfect pitch though (I hope I haven't lost it, I haven't played the piano much recently).

Naw. I heard the statistics for savantism is actually only about 1/10 for Asperger's. Mind you, this was a movie, so it's entirely possible it's completely inaccurate. Pretty sure I read something like that in a Tony Atwood book, too, though.

I'm told that I'm excellent at writing, but I don't think I'm a savant. I didn't think that was a savant skill (no offense, if it is I just wasn't aware).

Unfortunately, I'm not savant-like in any areas. Just the regular better in some than others.

:lmao:

I don't think I am a savant of any sort. I could read quite advanced books from being very young, with a rapidity that shocked my teachers, but I'm not sure whether or not that counts. I think Savant Syndrome is characterised by having an area of brilliant talent that is at odds with the subject's overall ability, and as I was good at everything at school (apart from sports, obviously) , I don't think this can really apply to me.

No. I used to say I had an undeveloped photographic mind, but now it seems I have altogether even run out of film.

No offense, but I never understood aspies and writing. Is writing actually that different from communication skills and the social aspects of things? I'm not good at writing and I hate reading books and it all makes sense to me. Following characters in a complicated plot is something I do not enjoy.

In my own case, the little bit of writing I have done was specifically related to my "special interest". Personally, I would never be able to write a novel, and I can learn/gain almost nothing while alone with a book.

Its completely different. I 'communicated' with an audience on the radio nearly every day for 35 years and did so smoothly and articulately - but that's a far cry from dealing with living human beings face-to-face and processing their nonverbal signals and knowing what the appropriate response is from moment to moment.

Writing comes much more easily to me than talking to live people and knowing how to live up to their immediate expectations and not p*ssing them off - that's a lot of pressure that the blank page doesn't put on me.

Its the damned ADHD symptoms that become a pain in the @ss where the writing is concerned.

I don't ignore you. It says you aren't on there. Crazy.
