I'm so happy! Yesterday, I escalated what may have been a relationship with Courtney! I remember some Monday in November, we met. We got to know each other on that 4-hour bus ride to Pittsburg state University where we worked on National History Day. You know, like the Thomas Jefferson thing I did last year?
Anyway, a few weeks after we met, I heard the announcement: "The next all-school party will be Friday, December 17, 2004. Come and join the Jingle Bell Ball. There will be reindeer prizes for each winner at the events: Donner and Vixen: Best dressed guy and gal. Dasher and Prancer: Kareoke winners. Cupid:Christmas couple. Dancer and Blitzen: Best dancers. Comet: Basketball champs. And Rudolph: Most Christmas spirit. There will be computer games, board games, basketball, volleyball, kareoke, concession stand and dancing.
The next day, I asked Courtney out to the dance. She said, "You know, Chris, people think that we're going out, and I'm sick of it. All those evil girls like Taylor Parmley always spread rumors if they see anyone together like that. Every day the ask: "Courtney, are you going out with Trevor?" "NO!" "Are you going out with Jonathan?" NO!" "Oh, you must be going out with Christopher, right!" "NO, NO, NO!" Chris, I prefer a group date. Maybe we could take Trevor along with us so no one will think we're going out. Is that ok?
I said, "Sure!"
Anyway, when I got to the party I paid my two dollars and went inside the middle school. I thought, "Where could she be?" I found her in the computer lab. She was playing on the internet with Trevor. I talked with her and showed her my beading book. We had lots of fun and we slow-danced! Eeee! That was fun, even though we didn't know how to dance and we practically knocked everyone else over. I bought her and Trevor a soda. I sang Kareoke and won the Dasher prize for the best kareoke singer. I won a glowing chemical bracelet and a plastic candy cane filled with M & M's. We played Sorry and Clue. And the best part was Courtney gave me a hug, which is usually not allowed in school. We had lots and lots of fun. I can't wait until school's back in session.
Yours truly, (Gee, don't you think the "Yours truly" thing is getting a little old?)
