do you have any? i wonder because so many aspies are sensitive to fussy things like body jewellery, maybe?

i'm allergic to all things metallic, so i had long ago let my ear piercings grow in. but maybe a year ago i became semi-obsessed with getting a hand piercing (web between the thumb and forefinger), so i finally did it about 4 months ago.

i have to clean it religiously and it gets lightly infected every week or so. it will probably take a few more months to fully heal. it doesn't actually bother me, and it gives me soemthing to fiddle with (hence the infections lol).

i don't have any tattoos. my interests change too fast and so it's too permanent. but i like how some tattoos look and i enjoyed watching someone get one done.

how about you?

I wouldn't trust myself to be sure enough of the decision to get something permanent.

If something extremely meaningful happened to me that I thought could be expressed by a piercing or tattoo, I might consider it.

I just hate the way they look. Though at times I get these moods where I want to get my face tattooed just to scare people off. I hate people too much for my own good. Just today I was thinking about burning lines into my cheeks to ward off humanity. I would prefer this to a tattoo cause it's free and I can back out at any time.

yeah, i know what you mean. my piercing is highly symbolic to me (and also ironic). but it could always grow in if i changed my mind. but tattoos are not so flexible if i had second thoughts!

well, i did see a very interesting tattoo that was cool because it was not designed to look at all attractive. this guy got a tattoo of wounds going all the way around each ankle, with stitches across the wounds. essentially, it was supposed to look like his feet had been cut off and reattached. i loved it - disgusting and sorta subversive.

I don't have any piercings, or tattoos. I've decided at the age of 19, that I didn't want any of that, done to my body. I don't even have my ears pierced. I want to stay pure.

cool. do you mean pure like clean? or untouched? my husband likes when women keep their bodies free of piercings and tattoos.

I currently have two tattoos - one of Jack Skellington on my left forearm, and one of a raven on my right forearm. I'm not sure if I'm going to get a third tattoo anytime soon, but if I do, I'd like to have the phrase "Cogito Ergo Sum" tattooed either on my arm or my back.

I also have my left ear pierced. I got it pierced when I was 13, and I mostly wore a stud in it until I was about 16. If I were to get more piercings, I'd like to get my cartilage pierced; and, if I'm feeling extra-adventurous, possibly my tongue or eyebrow. It depends on how I feel at the moment.

I have a taste for tattoos that are both sophisticated and badass.

I like the second design. I've been wanting to get a t-shirt that depicts a raven and lines from Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Raven." The reason I got the raven tattoo in the first place is because I liked the aforementioned poem so much.

No tattoos, but my tongue was pierced for about 10 years or so. It wasn't noticeable and I really liked it. And I have three holes in each ear, but those aren't noticeable either. I usually only wear one or two pairs of earrings at a time.

Oh, and my bellybutton's pierced :) I have the prettiest, low profile sparkly aquamarine. It is one of my favorite body decorations (pardon my lack of clarity - just woke up) and times when I've gone without it, I've missed it. It also serves as motivation for staying in shape. lol I've had it since 1993 and never regretted it.

wow, that is incredibly long to have a surface piercing! you must have taken good care of it so it didn't reject?

Yeah, when I do the math it's kind of surprising. I just took care of in in the beginning like you do any piercing and then just ignored it really. I don't have to give it any more attention than I do my ears. I don't think the navel pushes out a piercing the way a brow can (right?) - dunno, I could be wrong.

I have my ears pierced once and that's all I need. ^_^
