Not debates, but arguments. Some people love them! I don't get it.

Me too and I'd even rather have a discussion than a debate. For one thing it makes me very anxious and that makes me lose access to whatever my working memory has to offer and also I think it's more informative if people stay calm, ask each other questions and take the time to listen to the answers.

I hate arguing but it's so unavoidable. So when I get in arguments I get in them to win them.

Is kinda ridiculous though when I don't even feel like arguing, you know one of those arguments where the other person is screaming and crying and you're just like meh I don't care I don't want to hurt my throat yelling at you.

I also don't care for arguments, and I will do anything, to avoid them.

Unfortunately, arguing is a trademark of aspies. Its really hard to put two of us in a room and not have us argue about something. The higher your IQ, the more prone you are to doing it.

I have always wondered if I would make a good lawyer. I think that would be a great field for an aspie. Being able to argue in court is a big advantage.

Telling the judge they can go to hell.....going to get you thrown out of the courtroom, not priceless.

Pistonhead would make a bad lawyer. Especially because he could never defend a scumbag.

It's great seeing that not all aspies like to argue because I have heard lot of them do. When they think they're right, they will argue. If they don't agree with something, they argue their point.

i also hate arguments.
if someone argues with me, i will tell them that they are not able to argue with me because i am correct and then they usually become contentious.
i then tell them i have considered my position more carefully than they have considered theirs, and their assertions pertaining to their line of logic are not of any importance to me due to the fact that i give no credit to their thought process.

then they often go into a tirade of verbiage, and i do not listen to their details, and after they spend their explosive energy in trying to make me see it their way, i tell them that no matter how hard they consider what they say, they are wrong.

i say that to try to make peace by terminating their yodelling contention but it usually only accelerates their dissatisfaction, and at that point i just pack up my stuff and go.

people who argue with me are idiots, and i do not like to spend time in debates with people who are scurrying around a simple route of speculation.

some people get so angry that they want to follow me as i walk away, but i tell them that i will get a pest exterminator to fumigate them if they follow.

i am always completely correct because i would not have thought what i thought unless it was correct.

anyway i have to go to bed and i must say i like to play with people to make them angry because i am more entertained by making them react like a wind up toy than i am by talking to them.

IMO, no one ever "wins" an argument, so I avoid them. I do however like to very sarcastically and slowly tell the other person "yeah, you’re right".
This seems to drive them crazy.

Discuss, debate, argue ... and then some of us do not even just converse very much at all. Personally, I will do just about anything possible to either avoid or to at least try to quickly end an arrogant or angry exchange no matter what anyone might call it.

Just like with almost anything else, "good lawyer" can be heard in different ways. Within criminal law, "the system" sees a "good lawyer" as one who assures "the state" the defendant cannot later come back against it. But in the eyes of a defendant, a "good lawyer" often means someone who will help him or her try from the very beginning to beat the very system making it possible for the lawyer to even have a job ...

Go figure.

Things are similar in civil law, but at least there the lawyer has no conflict of interest to circumnavigate and "the system" is not holding anyone there at the point of a gun.

I suspect my own overall lack of social skills would preclude me from doing well with criminal cases, and I would certainly not do well at "lying without forethought" as so often seems (somewhat tongue-in-cheek) necessary there. However, I have had some success at writing letters to judges at just the right moments in just a few civil cases. Just a few days ago, an attorney jumped up out of his chair and rushed to the courthouse to file a "response" before a judge would have time to act upon a petition I had just filed and copied to him ... and in the process exposed himself to even more suspicion (at least as I see things).

I don't talk much as I dislike it but strangely I love arguing or debating. I think it may be the sense of competition, but really, I'm not sure of the reason.

that doesn't mean they enjoy arguing, it means they want to prove their point...

I just proved your statement true by arguing against it, just for laughs.
