What are your interests?

I've heard before that aspies follow particular interests. I'm curious as to what those interests are. Anyone got a passion for something specific? What do you like about it?

Oooooh yay my favourite kind of thread! Talking about my interests is my favourite thing.
Well my main special interests are great apes, evolution (most aspects of it) and religious debates. My other interests are dreams and anthropology (especially the evolutionary side of things). And a more casual and less intense interest in the internet (like forums and internet memes and stuff.)
The one I most obsess about is great apes, my favourite species being chimps and bonobos. It is my special interest because I find them to be quite fascinating animals and they are really intelligent. I have always been fond of intelligent and socially complex animals like apes, monkeys, dolphins and elephants. I want to be a primatologist in the future and study bonobos, prefferably in the wild.

ANCIENT. HISTORY. The classical and pseudo-classical world from around c.1500-50 BC.

Specifically Archaic Greek tyranny, socio-economics, Athenian Imperialism methods of control and ideology, Thucydides' "Pentecontanetia", and early Greek historiography.

My absolute passion.

Airships and to a lesser extent shapeshifters specifically werewolves.. It still feels weird to mention them having learned long ago that people have next to no interest in the things I do so its better to never mention them

My current interest is in Ayurvedic medicine/Chinese medicine. Since I have multiple ongoing health problems, it is endlessly fascinating to me. Secondary interests include anything Victorian, ballet, and creative writing

- human behavior, psychology and the functions of the brain
- concept development and illustration
- video games
- Hentai Manga

For me, there are 3 main "special" interests, which are basically hobbies: Early electronic technology; antique radios and TV sets. Second is collecting and restoring vintage Cold War air raid (tornado) sirens, and I also collect and restore Toyota cars & trucks with Diesel engines (extremely rare in the USA). Yes, my interests take a lot of space!

Animation, film, art, puppetry, leftist politics, Japan, the Czech Republic, and Zen Buddhism. I guess I don't have one all absorbing special interest but I follow these certain interests pretty intensely.

Meerkats and Lion King. Then lizards and snakes, followed by zoology and veternary medicine and finnaly Titan A.E. (this was the orgin for my lizard special intrest).

2. Films starring Johnny Depp
3. Cult classic films such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Repo! The Genetic Opera

Other interests:
Victorian-era England, especially the lifestyles and fashion of the people from that place/time
Psychology
Asian ball-jointed dolls (BJDs)

animal rights and particle physics......consistency, consistency. i try to keep myself from going way far crazy by painting, sculpting, and pretending to be a character in a dan simmons sci/fi novel.

Current interests:

- Music. Music. Music. And everything relating to it. EVERYTHING.

- Foreign Languages - at the moment, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese.

- Anime (I'm not consistent with it, but the art style really draws me in for some reason)

- Fantasy/Magic and Dragons. I say them separately because I think dragons may have existed.

- Darkness. I've always prided myself as the "Goth that doesn't wear black". I tend to like dark art, dark music, dark themes, dark lots of stuff, and the romanticism theme with various arts (not romantic as in love, romantic as in Victorian emotional art). I'm not partial to the "emo" culture, but in the 80's/90's, I possibly would have been in the gothic scene.

Past interests:

- Video games. I still partake in these, but I'm not as into them anymore. In elementary/middle school, Pokemon was an intense interest for me. Since I can't have nice things, I was really the only person in class who liked it. Yay. Led to much torment and isolation. Yipee.

Future interests:

- I hope to get into reading soon. This requires me to adapt to my difficulties with reading - I either lose focus or fall asleep while reading too often. I like reading while I'm reading, but it's difficult for me to be consistent.

I think that phrase could be used to describe me as well. I prefer to wear clothes that are bright and cheerful, but I still have an interest in "dark" things.



I find it strange that you were the only one in your class who liked Pokemon. At my elementary school, Pokemon was such a big deal that the principal had to ban it because kids were getting into fights over the trading cards and spending so much time on their Gameboys that they weren't paying attention in class.
