So, has anyone listened to Iron Maiden´s new CD called "The Final Frontier"? I bought the CD yesterday and was listening to the songs. At first I didn´t like the songs but hearing them again today made me think that they are good. I´m always like that! LOL. I think that the songs are better than the last album ("A Matter of Life and Death") in which the songs were more repetitive resembling progressive rock. I thought that the songs sounded "darker" in this album more in line with older Maiden´s songs. Well even the cover looks darker! Also the lyrics express a more negative viewpoint of the world. And more important the old gallop is back in the bass and guitar lines! I read that most of the reviews of the album were positive. The first songs are easier to absorb ("The Final Frontier", "El Dorado") and the following songs are more complex with different tempos. This album is more complex as a whole. I remember that the songs from "Brave New World" were more catchy with easier chorus to remember than the ones from this one. And there is the discussion if Bruce Dickinson´s tenor voice has deteriorated over the years or not. I saw Iron Maiden live last year ("Somewhere Back in Time World Tour") and it sounded pretty well. The songs of the new album might not top the older classics but I liked them.

I may youtube some of their new music. Everything they've released in the last 15 years or so is just a major disappointment in comparison to their early works anyway.

They played every song from the new album on Rock Radio on Sunday night mixed in with interviews with band members. I'm not sure about it. I prefer A Matter of Life and Death, but then that in itself took a long time to grow on me. I like the tracks towards the end of the album best. I like that epic prog sound they've been doing lately. Also the interview with Bruce Dickinson was interesting. He sounds wonderfully eccentric.

Maiden was my first musical love. :P I only have the CD's Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, and Powerslave. (I want the following two albums, Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.)

They're one of the few metal bands that don't sound worse with age, like Metallica. They play the same formula that's worked - and can still play with variation. So props to them.

I haven't heard much of their newer stuff, but I liked Brave New World. Might check this out on youtube or something.

The same old gallop is back? That is good, but I hope they're not, in a musical sense, re-using the E-C-D chord progression again. :P

Bruce's voice still hasn't begun to deteriorate.

All in all, I'd say that the new Maiden album sounds good.

However, I do have to say that the new ACCEPT album rocks.
