I am an educator for a non-profit special education collaborative and although this is my first post I have spent much time reading the forums here and browsing the site. I work with many students whom are autistic or have aspergers. I have read your stories regarding job interviews, finding jobs and workplace problems due to being misunderstood. It is a problem our students will face once they graduate high school. I want to do something about it and so I have began to form an idea of a vocational site for those who are the spectrum.
We would teach social skills and the unwritten rules necessary in order to succeed in the work place.
Before I continue with my idea I want to get input from you guys. What type of services would you like to see offered? What are some common problems that are faced in your careers you would like help with? Have you attended a similar center and what was your experience with it?
I posted this before and received no responses. If such a center existed none of you would go? Any comments are welcome.
