Being autisic and dealing with neural typicals in SL
Its to hard trying to fit in even in a fake world, this was a conversation I had with a friend in second life, so tired of having to explain myself, why I am the way I am
its not like I have a happy switch
maybe in sl it looks like I do
I can turn off my smile
I turn off my AO so I walk and act like the rl me
a blank faced emotionally dead robot I really am
I am worn out by sl and dealing with neural typicals
its to hard
I have to know my limitations
I can not fit into their society
I will always be an outsider
siting in my corner
looking at the plants
while the party go's on around me

Of course it is. It's harder for people with AS to be "fake."

Very well-described.
Personally, I can't understand why people would WANT to participate in stuff like "second life." What, is REAL LIFE not satisfying enough?
And we're supposed to be the ones who can't deal with reality.

I have agoraphobia and have been a virtual shut in for almost 3 years, SL is like a trap for people with this phobia, sort of dealing with it now and taking longer breaks from it, down to 7 hours a day from 18 hours last year. Second life is fun but it has a way of taking your life over, people in world are never what they seem, I guess I don't understand that side of sl that its not who you are in that world its who you want to be, I failed since I put myself into it.

Sorry, I didn't know you were dealing with that.
Ever see the movie Gamer or the anime series .hack://sign?
I don't know exactly how SL works, but is there any way you could create your own "world" (or corner of it) where YOU made the social rules?
Just a thought.

Well it is often called a game, but it can be so much more, I build most of the time, its a place where your imagination can run wild, I tend to get lost in what I am doing.
I think where I am having trouble is my not being so flexible with others and have to explain why I am in my own little world some days, its just to hard to explain to some
when they expect me to be something I am not, if that makes any sense
SL to me makes it easier to socialize as it seems to level the playing field to a certain degree.
Voice chat can be difficult for me, but text... ever notice most people misunderstand each other's meanings often via text chat? It removes the social cues people depend so heavily on. Because of that, I find I'm generally more able to communicate on a meaningful level in SL than anywhere else.

Yes, it does make sense, IRL as well as in virtual venues.
