People have told me my entire life that I always look half asleep or on drugs because my natural eyelid state is more closed than most normal people.

At times I have tried to rectify this by consciously opening my eyes more, but it always looks unnatural and then people notice my "bug eyes."

Can anyone else relate? or is this just me?

I'm the same, always have been. I had a pretty bad aspie stare in High School, of course back then I didn't know what Asperger's was and was yelled at by a female friend that I never showed emotions with my eyes. Consciously I didn't notice that my eyes look half closed but subconsciously I would draw cartoon versions of myself and my eyelids would be half of my eyes.

We each have our own perfect eye openness, and I think that the majority of people are just too picky about our eyes. I feel that if somebody has to complain about the openness of our eyes to the point of yelling, they have too much time on their hands, or they're just too picky, for their own good.

I honestly haven't had anyone tell me this before. I always feel like my eyes are like half open, but no one has actually told me that they look that way.

Yup. default look is bored. Probably has a lot to do with me being half asleep most of the time (insomnia and 7am mornings don't mix).

There are actual medical conditions regarding 'eyelid droop', which occurs in the general population. My personal opinion is that you shouldn't screw with your eyes if you can help it. Your eyelid shape could be protecting your eyes from extremes of light or photosensitivity, etc.

Some people have Ptosis, f.e. Thom Yorke or Paris Hilton. I think it's not related with Autism.
